Also sync between mac and a windows PC?
Hi,
I've been using MoneyDance for a long time (15 years?) and quite like it. Recently, I've tried switching to other applications because I want to be able to use my iPad to do more than just enter basic transactions e.g. look at reports. Unfortunately that has been a complete disaster!
So I have some questions:
1) If I install MoneyDance on a windows PC, will it sync with my Mac database?
2) Do you have any plans to enhance the iPad version?
3) Would I need an additional licence for the windows PC or would my Mac license work fine?
I am using dropbox currently for synchronisation.

Yes. You need to install the same version and build Moneydance 2021.1 (3069) on both computers and follow the steps outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base about Syncing with Other Computers.
2) Do you have any plans to enhance the iPad version?
For the time being mobile devices require Using the Mobile App and although an enhancement in the mobile app is a very popular request, unfortunately we cannot provide an ETA for when or if this will happen, unfortunately
3) Would I need an additional license for the windows PC or would my Mac license work fine?
Since you've purchased Moneydance directly from our website, according to our Licensing Policy you can use the same license key for registering on different platforms.

Hi Maddy,
I have successfully downloaded MoneyDance on a windows PC and seem to have
it connected to drop box. It gets as far as asking me for the encryption
password for the file, but the next button is not available even after I
enter the password. Am I missing something?

Firstly, please ensure you have the latest stable version installed on both computers Windows and Mac.
Moneydance 2021.1 (3069)
Secondly, to confirm whether your data is stored in the default location, launch Moneydance and click on Help > Show Document Folder, this will open your default data file location.
Then, you should proceed as follow:
1. Set both computers to Don’t Sync and start from scratch.
2. After running the update on both computers
3. Restart the syncing process
4. From the Primary computer (where you data is stored) you should navigate to File–> Syncing and select either Dropbox Folder or Dropbox Connection (you should choose the same method on both computers)
5. Select Show Passphrase and take note of it (you will need to enter it later on the new computer)
On the secondary computer, please navigate to File –> New– >Open Synced File
choose the same file as the older computer and enter the same Passphrase to start syncing.

that worked. I was entering the password used to open the file rather than
the dropbox sync password. All good now!
