Syncing Moneydance from MacBook Air to iPad
My MacBook Air is 8 years old and I just bought an iPad Air to replace it. I want to transfer data from Moneydance to my MacBook Air to my iPad. Can you help me with this.
Sincerely,

I'm a fellow user.
There is an article in the Knowledge Base about migrating Moneydance to a new computer, perhaps it can help you:

You say that you wish to replace your old MacBook Air with an iPad.
The iOS app for your new iPad is not the full program that you have been using until now on your MacBook. It is a free helper app designed to enter transactions on the go. You will still need to have the full program on a Mac or PC & sync between your new iPad & the main program.

Thank you for responding to my problem. I printed out the instructions for transferring my data. The first step is to determine which version of Moneydance I’m using. When I go to help About Moneydance does not appear.

As Jeff said if you have an iPad then it cannot run the base program (I saw Air on the question and was thinking Macbook Air) The app on an iPad at this time is a helper application for the purpose of on the go data entry, it cannot run the full app because Apple does not permit applications written in the Java language to run on IOS and you must be running the full base software on a system somewhere.

Note that on Macs the About Moneydance option is under Moneydance in the menu bar, not Help. The instructions say this.
The above comments are correct though, in that you will not be able to run Moneydance if you are entirely moving to an iPad. It must be run primarily on a desktop/laptop system.

I am going to return the iPad Air and get another Mac Book Air. Will I be able to transfer the program from one MacBook Air to another? I bought Moneydance 2015 directly from ik on February 17, 2015. Thank you both for answering my questions.

You will be able to run Moneydance on a Macbook but you will need to purchase an upgrade (50% Discount). Apple seem to make it a habit to break older software releases with newer versions of macOS and due to changes made Moneydance 2015 will not work well on the latest version of macOS.
You data is expected to transfer without problem. Moneydance 2022 should have no trouble reading data from Moneydance 2015. I routinely upgrade from much older versions

In addition to the great information in the previous comment, you can also find detailed instructions on moving to a new computer at: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/mo...
Let us know if you have any trouble with that process.
