I'm a new user just trying out Moneydance to see if its for me.

Looking at the release log for the phone app it appears that it doesn't really get a lot of love and things don't appear to have moved on much over the last 10 years. For instance i've just made a post about not being able to add tags when creating transactions on the phone, even after all these years.

The last release was over 10 months ago and before that 2 years ago we had a couple of small updates and then it's another year after that for the next update.

With only a couple of small updates a year can I ask if the phone app is still actively being developed or is it just in maintenance mode with the odd bug fix and improvements to existing features? Are we likely to ever get new functionalty (like tags) after all these years?

Just asking so I can set my expectations. The desktop app on the otherhand seems amazing so far but I feel the phone app lets the side down, Thanks

    just a user

The iphone/ipad app is primarily for viewing and data entry. It is not intended (at this time) to be a full blown implementation. The primary development is to add icloud syncing (already uses dropbox syncing), but that isn't MD's highest priority right now.

So, it is still being developed, but changes to the primary program are taking priority at this time. The good news is something "adding tags" would be in the data entry concept, so might get added to the improvement list...

    Hope that helps.

Viewing and data entry is all I’m really after, although anything extra would be a bonus.

The problem is I can’t do the data entry part properly due to not being able to add tags.

You say it’s not their focus currently and not their highest priority but it appears the apps been around over 10 years and it doesn’t appear to have improved much in that time. So this is not a recent situation.

Adding tag support is the obvious thing to implement but if it’s not been added in the last decade what are the chances it’ll be added any time soon.
