iphone will only sync sporadically

I love this program and will switch from Quicken and purchase IF we can get this synching issue fixed. I tried the Console Window and got the following report:

Starting Moneydance 2010r3 (757)

Settings Folder: C:\Users\BarclayOffice.moneydance

OS: Windows Vista 6.0 x86

Java: 1.6.0_24 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)

    Can you tell me what version of the Net Sync extension you are running? We recently (3 days ago) released a new version of the extension (build 11) which has fixed a significant syncing problem.

    Ben, I upgraded to 11 and it tests to sync both directions. I will run it s=
    imulcast with Quicken for a trial period, but I think I will like it. It is=
    still s little sluggish, but it looks like you guys will keep tweaking tha= t.

    A little constructive suggestion would be a "Sync" button. We older (54) te=
    chies are not as trusting of software and like to "touch and wait" assuming=
    it is trying to sync, as opposed to "I wonder if it is going to sync?"... = or even a "clocking device" to show us it's seeking the iphone to sync.=20

    I'm running Moneydance 2011r2 (787) on a Mac OS-X 10.6.7 and the App on my iPhone 4 (4.3.3) with version 11 of the Net Sync extension. I have the app open on my phone and ran the Net Sync ext. to find a new device, but it states that no devices are found running Moneydance, even though my phone is right next to my laptop. Any suggestions?

    William,

    We have a troubleshooting faq here, would you please take a look at it and let me know if this helps at all? Most importantly, your phone must be connected to the same wifi network as your computer to sync.

    I too am having a problem getting it to sync again. Last sync was May 1. I found this thread and downloaded and installed the latest version of the Network Sync extension. Still didn't work. Then I downloaded (and paid for!) the latest version of the desktop software. Still didn't work. As a last resort, I deleted the app from my iPhone and the connection to it in the desktop version and then reinstalled the iPhone app. Moneydance (desktop) recognized the iPhone and gave me the new access code. Now, I've entered the code carefully several times and it says "Unable to sync with TJs iPhone. Please verify access key"

    What can I do now? This program is great except for the sync issues. I'm about ready to give up and ask for a refund. Very frustrating

    Angie, thanks for the link to the faq ask questions. I was able to get my phone to sync once I changed it's name to remove an apostrophe. I apologize for taking so long to reply. Keep up the good work.

    I, too, had syncing problems (though one suggested solution, turn WiFi off and then on again, always got it to sync). Then I read the FAQ and (sigh) renamed my iPhone to remove the apostrophe and a space. Synced immediately.

    It would be nice if the application/iPhone application could be made to recognize apostrophes and spaces. I'd like to be able to choose my iPhone's name....

    I'm sorry for the late response to your question. Have you tried renaming your iPhone so it does not contain an apostrophe?     Hi Angie,
    That wasn't the problem this time. I had renamed my iPhone a number of months ago to get the sync to work, which it did for a few times. Then it stopped again and I went through the above exercises to get it to work again. Nothing. Today I turned both my desktop and my iPhone app on and got it to work after several tries. What finally seemed to work was turning off wi-fi (on my Mac) and then on again. Weird. Would really love this program if the sync was reliable. Any word on a manual sync instead of the current setup?

    Still hoping for Dropbox as a great solution. Dropbox works perfectly with 1password. Maybe they can give you some hints?

    i'm having the same syncing problems. sometimes it works right away, sometimes i have to force quit the app on my iphone and then it syncs, sometimes i have to force quit several times and sometimes i just give up and try again the next day. my iphone name has never included any special characters.
    i'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8, MoneyDance 2010 (757), iPhone iOS 4.3.3 and Network Synchronizer Build: 9.
    I recently had my phone replaced and started from scratch downloading MoneyDance onto the phone and setting it up to sync and the problem persists.
    It seems from some previous posts that there is a newer version of Moneydance and Network Synchronizer but I can't find an update button.
    Will updating help or do you have any other suggestions?
    What would be really cool is if you could shake the iPhone to start a synchronization.

    Rob,

    I think the current version of Network Synchronizer is Build 11. That's what Manage Extensions says. I don't know where I got the newer on (probably from "Manage Extensions"), but if you don't see an update button when you look at it in that, you might try removing it and then reinstalling; that might get you the later build.

    For what it's worth, I'm also running Moneydance 2011.

    We're working on a Dropbox based solution, and I'll post on this thread thread when it's available. The most up-to-day Network Synchronizer extension version is Build 11.

    I'm sorry this fix is taking so long, but we want to get it right before releasing (what we hope will be) the big fix.

    Hi all,

    On June 7 we submitted the iOS app to Apple to approval, so we'll definitely post on our blog, Twitter, and Facebook as soon as it's available. This update includes significant improvements to syncing, including Dropbox based syncing. We're not sure how long the approval queue is (Apple is a bit opaque about it) but we're hoping soon! We'll also post on this thread when the app is available.

    Some bad news: Apple did not approve our latest update to the iPhone/iPad/iPod Moneydance app. This was due to the Dropbox authorization page linking to an external signup form.

    The good news: we've re-submitted the app using a newer version of the Dropbox SDK that resolves the issue while also making the Dropbox authorization a bit easier. This submission also fixes a few small bugs that were discovered in the past week.

    We're all very sorry for the additional delay in getting the app update. I expect it will be another 5 working days which is Apple's current advertised time to review app updates.
