iCloud Drive sync on Windows
I've installed the latest MD on my windows computer and on my iPhone x, set up iCloud on both, did a SYNC to iCloud on my computer, see the files on iCloud with a green check mark by each file, and try the iCloud Sync which fails. It searches for the files on iCloud but never lists them for selection. It finally returns with 'No synced files were found'. The files show up when I run FILES on my iPhone.

Hi Allen,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
iCloud Drive syncing depends on operating system support for it, so I don't think it'd be possible from Windows. On the other hand, I notice that Apple has iCloud software that can install on Windows, so it might be possible to used the "SharedFolder" syncing if you choose the exact right location under the C:\Users[user name]\iCloud Drive folder.

I downloaded the Apple version of iCloud when I started yesterday. So I don’t believe that is the issue.

To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance
Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer?
Is your data file stored in the default location?
Please note: if you are syncing your data with a mobile device, or another system - you should NOT move your data file to a shared folder location, like Dropbox/iCloud etc. The file should remain on your local system if your data is being synced or shared, as outlined here.
Are you syncing to the same iCloud account on both devices as outlined in this article?

I did notice that when I installed MD several years ago I copied the .moneydance folder to under Documents folder so my backup program would pick it up. This shouldn’t cause the iPhone application to not see it should it?

Would you be able to send us a copy of your Moneydance error logs, the logs should include information on what might be causing the issue.
They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file. You need to navigate to: Local Disk(C:)>Users>Your Name>.moneydance>errlog.txt
Finally you can copy the full content into your next reply here.
As a side note: please refer to this article in case there is anything we might have missed up to this post.

This question has come up a few times now.
I think it is going to need a experienced knowledgeable user/support staff that has the required infrastructure ie. Windows, an iCloud account etc to see if they can get it working as a proof of concept

Ok, so I tried on windows to select sync method iCloud, and as expected, it’s not there.
So I duly installed iCloud Drive for windows… restarted Windows, made sure iCloud was worked. Then launched MD. And again, iCloud sync method is not there.
This is as I expected. I don’t think the Java ‘lot’ being used has iCloud APIs on windows (but I could be wrong).
So, I don’t know how you are selecting iCloud method on windows. Can you send screenshot of this. Then please send help/console after you have tried this…

If iCloud were to work with Windows it would have to set it up using Shared Folders, much like we use shared folders when setting up for Dropbox Folder where the Dropbox client was installed using a custom location for the folder.
I'm not expecting there to be API support in Moneydance for iCloud on Windows so it would have to be a set up where Moneydance is writing the sync data to a specific folder on disk and the iCloud client is doing the actual syncing of this folder to the cloud.

Ah OK, so you are using the Shared Folder option to attempt to get MD on Windows to open iCloud files... This is also how I would personally attempt it... Note: I know of no one that has managed this yet (and kept it working)... Not saying it won't work, but you are 'trail blazing'..... (stepping out of this thread)...

Was wondering if any support staff is working on this? I don't understand why this software is even released when it doesn't seem to be working. My career has been in software and releasing something like this is pretty sloppy. Moneydance can do alot better than this in order to keep and attract customers.

To be totally fair I do not think that TIK ever considered using iCloud with Windows, I believe they envisaged it as an Apple ecosystem solution.

Hi Allen
I agree with dwg. in the development stage of iCloud syncing it was made clear it was intended to be used with Apple products only. It was never intended for cross platform use. If users ever found a way to make it cross platform great, but that was not the developer intension. The method provided to sync between Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS devices is Dropbox.
