HELP - restore to PC from Dropbox folder?
Win 10 on my laptop died suddenly and had to be re-installed. I was unable to recover the contents of my laptop .moneydance folder. I can access my accounts in the Moneydance iOS and iPadOS apps. Is there a way to restore these accounts to the Windows app using the folders in Dropbox > .moneydance?

Yup. As long as you are on a recent version and it depends how ‘whole’ / complete your Dropbox folder is.
1. At welcome screen, open other, then I think it’s open sync copy.
2. File. New. Open sync copy. Select the Dropbox folder. Select your dataset.

#2 did the trick. Thanks so much for the info and promptness.

For the future make sure you take regular routine backups and store them in a safe place.
While recovery from the sync data is possible it cannot always be guaranteed to work and depending on the problem you are trying to recover from it may be corrupted and hence unusable.

I am not support staff, just a user.
As dwg suggests make sure you have Moneydance created backups.
One way to do this is set up backup under PREFERENCES – BACKUP set up auto backup using a remote location such a as a folder in Dropbox. Then even if your computer fails and you need to setup again your data can be restored using Moneydance's RESTORE FROM BACKUP.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all. I'm ordinarily a bit compulsive about backing things up but, duh, didn't think about the local .moneydance folder suddenly becoming unavailable. I'm now backing up to the cloud.
