App not syncing

I have the iPad on my iPad and iPhone and for the last few weeks it doesn’t seem to be syncing properly. I have a blank screen for ages when I open it and after entering one transaction it freezes. Is there a problem with the app or do I need to delete and re-sync. I’m using Dropbox to sync, and I use the apps more than the desktop.
