I hope someone can help! I am trying to sync a Moneydance file to a second mac. The file is shared from the Primary Mac using the "Dropbox Folder" option.

I am able to connect to this shared file from two iPhones using the app - all good - and demonstrates that the file is shared and I have access to it.

On the second Mac I use File->New->OpenSyncedFile and the available options are: Dropbox Connection, iCloud Drive or Shared Folder. The Dropbox Folder option is not available. screenshot attached. Why is the Dropbox Folder option missing?

Moneydance version 2022.5 (4091)
Mac OS Ventura (13.1)

Try again and then upload help/console here.
Also run toolbox extension and see if it tells you about a problem..?

Thank you. The toolbox identified that I had a "Dropbox Alias" issue and I was able to resolve that.

I have now opened the sync'd file on the secondary Mac. It is loading oddly. Only showing one hashed account and no transactions (screenshot)

I re-ran the toolbox which identified that the dataset was running in secondary mode (I guess that is correct?). I have attached the disgnostics from toolbox.

Any suggestions on where to go from here?

    Which machine was secondary?

I’m guessing you selected the wrong account on the second Mac when opening the sync file

Run toolbox on the primary mac.

What is the dataset name - is it ‘My Money'

Does the Dataset internal UUID: of ‘637c9de4-5519-41ce-8337-dc63f1bbbf33’
    … match on both?

In toolbox, click top right, open md folder and then open sync folder. Do this on both. How many folders are in each one? You need to select the same folder on both?

It’s also entirely possible that your sync setup is very old.

You can try this. On primary. Toolbox. Update mode. Advanced menu. Force refresh/push sync data. Wait 5 mins. Then restart all devices and see what happens.

Thank you Stuart Beesley. Based on your thoughts I did this:

    1. Created a backup from the Primary computer
    2. Stopped all sync'ing
    3. Loaded the backup into a new (empty) MD dataset
    4. I was then able to sync this new file across all devices

I presume when you say "Loaded the backup into a new (empty) MD dataset", you mean you performed File/Restore backup.. and then during this process you also UNTICKED retain sync settings..? If so, then what you did was restore a dataset and FYI this process blows away all sync settings allowing you to set it up again.. (just for others watching this thread)...

    👍
