Sync-ed, now not sync-ed
So yesterday I was able to download the apps for my iPhone and iPad and get them both to sync. Today, I couldn't get them to sync at all. So I deleted everything and started over and now MD won't even see either device to get them synced with new codes. I've turned everything off, restarted, everything...nothing is working.

We are still all waiting for this alleged bullet-proof app update that will resolve the sync problems (promised Sept. 2011)

Does no-one at infinitekind really care about this issue? Or will Moneydance just quietly fad away as people move to Mac.iPad/iPhone integrated software that actually works?

This was tweeted a couple of days back:
https://twitter.com/moneydance/status/210900357277171712
"Today is your lucky day- we've submitted the app to Apple for review! We'll post again when it's available"
Yes, it is odd not to have seen anything here.

Hi all,
Sorry to have not posted on this thread, I've been focusing on putting together documentation on the new app before it drops (Apple's release timelines always feel a bit oblique to me). We will post on this thread when the app is out, that's a promise. Our support staff (including me) are SO EXCITED to be able to release this fix and move on to the next improvement- there's always more we can to make Moneydance even better.
Sorry we didn't update this thread sooner, I'll go through the rest of the threads related to syncing and do so now.

Some bad news: Apple did not approve our latest update to the iPhone/iPad/iPod Moneydance app. This was due to the Dropbox authorization page linking to an external signup form.
The good news: we've re-submitted the app using a newer version of the Dropbox SDK that resolves the issue while also making the Dropbox authorization a bit easier. This submission also fixes a few small bugs that were discovered in the past week.
We're all very sorry for the additional delay in getting the app update. I expect it will be another 5 working days which is Apple's current advertised time to review app updates.

We're delighted to announce that version 1.5 of the Moneydance app, including Dropbox based syncing, is now available. You can find the full announcement on our blog, and Knowledge base articles, including a video tutorial here. You can get to the app directly here
If you have any questions, please post in our new category for questions about the app update. This will help us to more effectively address any questions related to the new version of the Moneydance iPhone app.
We hope you love this new app as much as we do, and thanks as always for using Moneydance.

At last! Thanks.
A few quick notes. It took three goes.
I deleted moneydance 1.4 to avoid sync issues (not been syncced for about 18 months)
The new install showed me 1.4 again!
A retry got 1.5
Needs an instruction to wait a bit before using ios after setting up moneydance on OSX as dropbox had not syncced.
Is the dropbox sync saving a new file, or is it hanging of a copy of my file (already in dropbox). I.e. if I want to be able to sync to my wifes ios to, what dropbox folder needs to share with her? (It's not unreasonable for her to be able to account for her spending too!)
In the event of a conflict, which version takes priority? How would this be presented?

One more note - it shows final balances on the home screen, not current balances, cleared balances of even end of month balances - this should be alterable.

OK. I've updated the extension on my desktop and set it up to synchronize via Dropbox. I was already using Dropbox for my account files so by turning on the Dropbox synchronization in the extension everything should, be good-to-go. Right??
Well, on my iPhone I keep getting a message that says "No Moneydance data files were found that have been configured to sync using the Dropbox account. Please make sure you have installed the Network Synchronizer extension and configured it to sync using Dropbox."
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the extension - same problem.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my iPhone - same problem.
What the heck's going on now pleeeeeeease!!!!!

Hi Don,
Is your Dropbox folder in its default location, or did you specify a location for it to be? What operating system are you using?

OSX10.7.4
I'm having the same problem with my iPad.
File is in a location I specified (folder called 'Moneydance Accounts'). As far as I can tell, there is no default location because I tried creating a new accounts file and Moneydance asked me to specify a name and location. Is there a default folder/file hierarchy I could try?

I have my md file in dropbox already, but followed the instructions, updating network sync etc. It worked (setup, save and exit desktop, wait a bit, then ios)
What I'm unclear about is exactly where the 'sync' file is in dropbox

Hi Don,
Sorry, I should have been clearer--I meant your Dropbox folder (usually located in your home folder, called "Dropbox"), not the Moneydance folder in the Dropbox folder. Is your Dropbox folder located in your home directory?

aha. no its not. does it need to be?
45 Posted by Scott Meehan on 27 Jun, 2012 08:17 PM
Hi murkee,
The files are stored in a hidden directory called .moneydancesync in your Dropbox directory.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Hi Don,
Since you're using Mac OS X, it should be possible to create a symbolic link directory so that Moneydance can find your Dropbox folder without you needing to change your Dropbox setup. Here's how to do it:
cd ~
ln -s ~/Documents/Dropbox-custom ~/Dropbox
These directions are somewhat complicated if you've never used a command line before--what they do is create a link between the default location of the Dropbox folder (~/Dropbox) to the folder you've configured Dropbox to use in your home directory (~ in the command line's language). If the directions aren't clear enough, please tell me the location of your Dropbox folder and I'll give you the exact commands to run.

Thanks Scott,
I just relocated my Dropbox folder to my root folder (I had it on the Desktop) and put an alias on the Desktop.
Things are working fine now.
It might be an idea to add some additional information to your instructions page to cover off the possibility that others may encounter the same problem.
Cheers!!

This comment was split into a new discussion: Changing # of days to sync in iPhone app 1.5 is problematic
Hmmm. Here's another little thing. I have the extension set to sync 365 days but it only does 90.

On second thought, since this is a new issue I've created a new thread. Let's continue this discussion there.

This comment was split into a new discussion: Weird sync time display behavior
Here's another thing. If I close the app completely, it does a sync as soon as its re-opened BUT it doesn't show the latest sync time (the current time) but seems to show the time that it made the last change even if that was a number of hours before..

Hey everyone-
Please don't post on this thread anymore, but on a new thread in the "Questions about the NEW, v1.5, iPhone, iPod, and iPad app" category. This will help us to more effectively address these issues.
