Sync issue
MD is on my desktop, laptop, and iPhone. The laptop and iPhone seem to be syncing just fine using DropBox, but the desktop is out of sync. So, I checked and the laptop and iPhone have the same sync password for DropBox, but he desktop password is different. I thought it would as simple as going into File/Syncing and changing the DropBox password in MD, but I can only view the password there, not update it. I also checked File/Passwords and Moneydance/Preferences, nothing. How do I change/reset the desktop password to the correct password so it will sync with the laptop and iPhone? Is the sync process smart enough not to overwrite the laptop sync file with the outdated desktop file once the password is corrected. Is there a "sync now" I need to do after fixing the Dropbox password, but before quitting out of the desktop file so It doesn't just overwrite the most up-to-date data that is already in the sync file?

You cannot change the Dropbox sync password. What you can do on desktop is file/new/open sync copy, Dropbox, password, select the good laptop sync dataset. This will create a new sync connection

Hi Stuart,
I finally got a chance to try to fix the Dropbox sync issue, but I wasn’t able to select the good laptop sync dataset. Prior to going into MD on the desktop machine, I went into Dropbox, displayed the hidden files, saw there was only one “.moneydancesync” folder, and checked the modified date to make sure it was the most recent sync with the laptop (11/29/23). Then, on the desktop machine, I went to File/New/Open Synced File (Dropbox Connection)/Authorize with Dropbox/[logged into Dropbox and provided the authorization code as requested to authorize MD access to Dropbox, but the only file presented to select had an old date (05/??/23). It didn’t allow me to navigate to choose the 11/29/23 dataset after entering the authorization code. It presented a dataset with a date, but the only option presented was for an old date that I don’t even see in Dropbox. When I looked at Dropbox after authorizing MD access, a second “.moneydancesync” folder had been created with a date of 11/29/23. So I just canceled out of it.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Gina
Are you sure that the Dropbox Account on your laptop and desktop are the same Dropbox account and not different accounts?
Open Moneydance on your laptop and set syncing to don’t sync and create a Moneydance backup, Export Backup.
Make sure Dropbox client is installed on both computers. To test Dropbox is working copy any small file on your laptop to the Dropbox folder on your hard drive and check that the file appears in the Dropbox folder on your desktop hard drive.
If all looks good with Moneydance closed on all devices delete all .moneydancesync folders.
Open Moneydance on your lap top and set up syncing but using the sync method Dropbox Folder.
Now set up syncing on your desk top File – New.
Assuming this work set up syncing on you iPhone.
Hope this helps.

Sorry for the long delay in responding. In addition to the holidays, I had a knee replacement surgery and have been off the grid for bit.
Long story short, both computers were using the same Dropbox account, and I was finally able to get everything synced using Dropbox. However, once everything was up and working properly, I changed the sync to iCloud and everything is still working. I’m not sure where iCloud stores the sync file. Even when it show the hidden files, it is not obvious to me. Nevertheless, it working. Thanks for your help!

To see the iCloud hidden files. Launch toolbox extension. Top right. Click open MD folders. Open sync folder.
