The procedure to sync between systems is outline in the Knowledge Base article:

I've read that article but it's a little confusing.
I have Moneydance set up on my Mac and iPhone, and I want to set it up on my windows computer, but there's something I'm not understanding with the instructions.
It says "you must ensure the .moneydance data files you'd like to share are not already located in any shared folder like Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud etc". But then it says below to use one of those sync methods.
Does it mean you have to switch from your current sync method (iCloud) to a place on your cimouter, and THEN pick another storage place?
Is Dropbox the best (only?) place to use if you're syncing a Windows computer, Mac computer, and IPhone? Is OneDrive also acceptable?

sigh, "computer", not "cimouter" ;-)

Your second paragraph - don't put .moneydance data files in the cloud. That means your actual dataset. Syncing will send transaction files that all other synced items will access.
Dropbox is the best place to syncing a windows computer/mac/iphone, as it works with all three.

Yes, I have mine in iCloud which has worked fine with my 2 Apple devices.
But isn't it the same thing they're talking about in the next paragraph.? Do I need to use dropbox for syncing but make sure the dataset is still stored on my imac?

Having your main database (.moneydance) in iCloud versus on the computer itself (not in the iCloud folder) is flirting with data corruption, based on the way the Moneydance file is stored. Glad it has worked fine up until this point.
If you weren't about to add a windows computer, you could use iCloud for those transaction files the document mentions, which would then be shared between the two devices.

Ah, you're right. My files are on my computer. I'm syncing through iCloud but I'll go back to Dropbox. Thanks!
