Paraphrase
Hello. Previously I had syncing with Dropbox and deleted the file on dropbox and also just upgraded on my mac. When i try to sync with icloud drive the paraphrase from my dropbox is there but doesn't allow me to change it for ios and when i go into my phone to try and sync i get an error message. Also, I have a laptop I'd like to add Money dance to and do not know how to do that and have my accounts and all info sync.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

I'm a fellow Moneydance customer.
To reset the passphrase you will need to install and use the Toolbox extension. Moneydance remembers the old passphrase otherwise.
It is important to note that iCloud syncing will only work with devices running macOS and IOS, it does not support any other Operating Systems.
Instructions for setting up syncing are in the Knowledge Base:

Toolbox is a Moneydance extension that contains tools used to address various data file issue, It is installed using the Moneydance menu item Extensions => Manage Extensions.

Thank you for your assistance. i see the Toolbox extensions and there are many. How do i know which one to install and what the procedure is to remove the passphrase. This seems very complicated to me.

i decided to install the one called Toolbox…. from there i have no idea what to do. Boy did i make a huge mistake purchasing a program that offers no phone support.

It is not possible for a small company to provide worldwide telephone support. If that is the level of support you require, you will probably need to find software by a U.S. based company. Telephone Support, if available, is likely to be provided on a pay per incident basis
There is only one Toolbox extension in the extension list. The options to reset sync settings including the password is on the Advanced menu and is called Force reset Sync settings.

I had no idea the company was not a US based company. Your instructions worked and the passphrase was changed and is also showing on my iPhone but when i hit the sync on the phone (and now there are a few duplicate accounts listed by the way) i get a message saying “initial sync failed”….. oh man i thought i did it (with your help of course).
But alas i have no idea what to do next

i just noticed that when i click the show passphrase box it says its the password used to sync over Dropbox. i don’t know how that’s possible if it was reset.

Hello again. I’d love to elicit your knowledge again. Still trying to sync and the program still thinks my sync is through dropbox not iOS. any thoughts?

If you want to discontinue Dropbox, and initiate iCloud syncing, you need to go to File/Syncing and change from Dropbox to iCloud.
That will involve setting up the sync on your Mac devices again, I'm sure there is a kb article somewhere giving more specific instructions, but basically, it's literally changing the sync method and resetting everything up from scratch.
Changing this will prevent you from syncing to any non-Apple desktop or device.
