After update, mobile app on Android won't load
There was an update 2 days ago that broke the mobile. I cleared cache, uninstalled, re-installed, it just simply will not work anymore. Help!

Hi all, thanks for being on the beta group! There is a significant (behind the scenes) update coming. There is an issue which causes the app to exit while migrating from the old version. It should eventually stop crashing and then run normally, but I'm working on that bug now so that you won't have to deal with it much longer.
Thanks,
Sean

It opens, but it won't sync data...just spins. So you guys consider the
mobile app beta? That's where I do 99% of my usage! Haha!

It has also somehow messed up my main file on the PC - added accounts with long string names and hangs. Have restored yesterdays data and has repeated the issue

Only fix was to restore and not restore the sync settings

Hi Doug,
Definitely not! However we did just push an update to the Beta channel on the Google Play store. The stable channel has not received any updates! It sounds like you may have been on the beta channel, which also hasn't had any updates in a while until just this week.
For anyone seeing problems, you can revert to the stable version by visiting the Google Play page for Moneydance from on your phone (or desktop) and opt out of the beta (or alpha) versions. https://infinitekind.com/moneydance-android
We're working on solidifying this beta so that we can (finally) update the stable version, but obviously there are a few bugs still left to work out.
Thanks,
Sean

Bah! I had no idea I was in the "beta" channel or how I got there. And it
took a while to figure out how to get out of it. But I did, downloaded the
app again, and wallah, things are working now. Keep up the good work!

Hello, good evening.
I'm writing from Argentina. I've been a happy Moneydance user for several years, using both my PC and my Android phone. I highly value the app on my phone. Although it's been so long since it's been updated, once I receive one, it doesn't work.
When I launch it, it says "Loading" and then it stays there; it doesn't open, it doesn't do anything, and I can't use it.
It's been 3 days and it's still not working. Would you know when it will be back online? I actually use it enough to manage my personal finances, and I'm not entirely satisfied with it. I look forward to your reply. Best regards, Gabriel.

Hi Sean
Tried exiting the beta program but was unable to install the current
release version as it told me my Android version was too new and app
wouldn't work. So I rejoined the beta, installed again, cleared cache
and data. I also unlinked Dropbox on pc and deleted all Dropbox folders
in order to start again. Ran up the app, re-linked to Dropbox and it
downloaded and synced data all ok. So currently up and running. Have
noticed that trying to enable the PIN lock in settings causes the app to
crash.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,
Ok, I think staying on the beta should now be ok. I've pushed another update just a few minutes ago that fixes the problems with moneydance exiting while performing the migration from the old sync process to the new one. Once Google reviews and approves this for the beta channel then it should be available to download and automatically update.
I think from this point forward there may still be bugs, but none of them should be showstoppers.
I'll post again once the beta is approved and available.
Thanks,
Sean

I am on Build 20250222 on my Android cell phone. What version should we be at for the most current?
14 Posted by jdelval on 23 Mar, 2025 10:14 PM
I've opted out of the Beta following Sean's instructions. That fixed the Android app issue.
However, now the totals in some of my accounts show different amounts in the desktop than in the Android app. I did a forum search about this issue and found this other thread:
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/iphone-ipod-touch-ip...
I followed the instructions in that thread (disable syn in desktop, delete sync folder, re-enable sync in desktop, then disable + re-enable sync in the Android app), but after all that I still get the same accounts showing the wrong totals in the android app. What do I do know?

Hi
If your Laptop data looks wrong you should FILE - RESTORE FROM BACKUP and ensure you untick Keep sync settings from original file as part of this process. Assuming your data looks OK you should now set up syncing on your computer.
I did not have to do the above as my data was OK on my laptop.
On Android I updated from 20250309 to 20250323. Although it opened and all looked OK it would not sync to my laptop. To get it to sync correctly to my laptop I had to use on the Android Disconnect under Setting. Then select the Data Set I wanted Android to sync to. After that all was OK.
That was my experience.
Have Fun, Stay safe.

To clarify, I now have data synching from my PC to my Android app, and viceversa. However, even though transactions are synching, the totals in some of the accounts are different.

My only solution has been to restore my last good backup and disable sync.
I have not tried setting up sync again as I want to be sure the latest app versions have come through in a few days.
It would be useful to know when Apple & Google app stores have the fixed versions.

Just installed the latest beta build (20250323) and the PIN lock function seems to be missing from the settings screen.

Hi SteveH42
Yes, I pointed that out to Sean the Moneydance developer when I installed 20250323 a couple of days ago. He is thinking of adding biometric authentication. Let’s see what happens.

Long-time Android app user here, trying to get the new initial sync to process a list of 51,362 updates at a timed pace of ~1,000 per minute. The hard part here is keeping the app in the foreground and the screen alive, else the processing restarts from 0.
I've been trying over the past couple days and dedicated an hour to it tonight. Thought I was going to get through it, got up above 40,000 processed before it suddenly checked the scan folder once more then jumped back to the beginning. Head exploded, but trying it again from the start now.
Not gonna lie, this is a very rough UX.
Update 1: exact same thing happened, sync ran to roughly the same place, then restarted. Giving up for now, I've confirmed this won't complete.
Update 2: realized I was in the beta program, opted out, uninstalled, reinstalled non-beta, and went through initial Dropbox sync setup with latest found dataset. All is well now, app is up and sync'd. I guess this just means there's still a bug in beta :)

This comment was split into a new private discussion: After update, mobile app on Android won't load
I haven't been able to run either the regular or the beta version of the app. After selecting "open synced file", nothing could be found even though I could see the file in Dropbox.

Exited beta, uninstalled app, reinstalled app, agreed to sync, and this happened.
Not sure what I'm supposed to do now....
