Android app is not finding the Dropbox folder
The Android app is not syncing using the Dropbox folder method. When I open the Android app, in the Choose a Data Set screen it shows "No folders found" at the bottom. I am certain that there is a .moneydancesync folder in Dropbox, the Windows app is syncing to that folder, and I am logged into the same Dropbox account on both Android and Windows.

Same issue. I've removed and reinstalled Dropbox on PC and Android. No luck.
2 Posted by jeffcarp on 21 Jan, 2026 04:34 AM
My issue started yesterday with the Android app not syncing new transactions despite them syncing to Dropbox from the Windows app. I disconnected Dropbox on Android and when I reestablished the connection it couldn't find the file. I then cleared the cache, cleared data, uninstalled and reinstalled the Android app. Even then, the Android app couldn't see the file on Dropbox.

Same issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone, deleted the folder from Dropbox, confirmed that the MD app on my PC recreated the folder on Dropbox, disconnected and reconnected my phone app, and it still can't find the files. I don't use the app on my tablet, but I tried it with the same result. The last sync timestamp on the phone app before I uninstalled it was about 24 hrs before I noticed the issue, so it was something that changed in that time.

@All
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
You could try to instal version 2025 (BUILD 20250323) of the Android mobile app.
This version is available for download here - at bottom right of the page, or via Google Play.
You can subscribe to the Google Play services beta using a web browser, or directly through your device.
After you've signed up, it will be automatically downloaded on all devices using the Google account you signed up with. After re-starting your device, you will be running the beta version.
Finally, you can turn on automatic updates, as follow:
Open Google Play.
Tap the icon with three horizontal lines on the top-left.
Tap Settings.
Tap Auto-update apps.
Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

Hi Maddy
This is the exact version of the app that I'm using.
Support Staff 10 Posted by Maddy on 21 Jan, 2026 12:29 PM
@ Hilly
Can you navigate to File->Preferences/Settings->Network and select the Sync data with mobile devices feature. Click "OK" and restart Moneydance.
Launch Moneydance and when you are in register view, navigate to Help->Console Window Click the icon with the horizontal ellipsis and navigate to Utilities->Reset Dropbox Folder Sync Data from This File.
If the issue continues, please let us know and we’ll be happy to investigate further.

I updates to the Beta version of the Android app, cleared cache and data and then opened it. I was able to log into Dropbox and sync was reestablished. But the Beta version of the app doesn't appear to have any security. Is that right?
Support Staff 12 Posted by Maddy on 21 Jan, 2026 12:47 PM
The beta version comes directly from our official Moneydance preview page, so the beta uses the same encryption and the same sync system as the stable release. The only real trade‑off is stability — you might run into the occasional crash, UI glitch, or sync oddity simply because it’s a test build. In this case though, it is the best option as it includes a fix to the issue you were encountering.

@maddy I am not referring to encryption. I'm referring to the apparent lack of a biometric / pin login when I open the app.

All working again now. Left it alone for a few hours and everything updated. So thank you @Maddy
@jeffcarp - there is an option for a pin in the settings menu on the app
16 Posted by jeffcarp on 21 Jan, 2026 06:18 PM
If this is reported to be working again for those that didn't upgrade to the Android beta app, does that mean it was a Dropbox issue?
@Hilly I don't see a pin setting in the beta version of the Android app.

@jeffcarp
Weird! Mine does.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Hilly / Jeffcarp
Looking at your screen shot I don’t think you are running the 2025(20250323).
jeffcarp screenshot clearly shows the build version a well as other information, Filename, Dropbox account, Sync Folder plus the name of the sync folder it contains.
My settings screen in the Android app has same format as jeffcarp.
Hilly your screen shot looks like an earlier build.
Jeffcarp you are correct build 2025(20250323) has had the pin setting removed as a step in the process of adding biometric recognition, which I understander is in Sean’s development plan.
Have Fun, Stay Safe.

Thanks @derekkent23. I switched back to the non-beta to get pin security back. The beta is still choppy for me (UX) and I find the last sync date to still be late /delayed in actually reflecting the sync.
What's weird is that the old non-beta already has biometric for me. Once I set a pin, when I open Moneydance, my Pixel 10 uses a biometric popup to open the app instead of requiring the pin.
20 Posted by Tom Conway on 22 Jan, 2026 06:01 PM
@jeffcarp How did you switch back? I came out of the beta, uninstalled and reinstalled but I'm not on the version I left. It's now version 2022.2 and there is no PIN lock option.
21 Posted by jeffcarp on 22 Jan, 2026 06:57 PM
In the Moneydance app details within Google Play Store, I selected "Leave Beta." It takes a few minutes. Then I uninstalled the beta and reinstalled. Since I left the beta, it reinstalls the most recent production version.

The same happened to me last week whilst travelling for a few days, noticed it not syncing at all (ANDROID PIXEL). Tried all the suggestions above to no avail. Don't want to revert to Beta as I did that to fix a problem before and had more sync issues as others have stated.
Complete new install just shows no sync folders.
Has the issue been resolved for others on the non-BETA version?
23 Posted by terry.allen64 on 28 Jan, 2026 12:45 AM
I seem to have developed the same problem again, but nothing is fixing it this time around. I deleted the folder from Dropbox, did the "Reset Dropbox Folder Sync Data" thing in the desktop (Linux) app, cleared the cache and data on the phone, and tried to sync. The phone app is reacting just like it did last week; it doesn't see the folder on Dropbox. I even tried restarting my phone, but there was no change. What do we do to fix it this week? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
24 Posted by kaiemi on 28 Jan, 2026 03:30 AM
I have the same problem; unable to sync phone (Samsung S23), tablet (Samsung S10FE), tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A9). Phone indicated last sync 15 Jan while S10 indicated 24 Jan, and Tab A9 6 Jan. I deleted and reinstalled on fone and now I'm informed (on the fone MD) that no files found even though I can run MD on PC and see MD file in Dropbox via browser.
What is the fix?

Hello all
same problem here. Android app will not sync anymore, no dropbox folder showing when trying to connect
27 Posted by David Duong on 28 Jan, 2026 10:16 PM
Just updated to Beta 2025 and it is syncing again.
28 Posted by Rick Ahrendt on 29 Jan, 2026 04:27 AM
I had the no sync issue roughly a week ago. I had no errors or anything, it just stopped syncing and no entries would save.
It started working again a couple days later and was fine, but I am now having the same issue again.
The last sync was January 26. Again it is not showing any errors. It just does nothing when I open the app. No animation or anything like it's even trying to sync.

I also upgraded to beta version android and it is now working.

Sync stopped working. What are the steps to get working again? Tried all of the troubleshooting mentioned above and the android version states that there are no files to load. Now the play store says I can no longer download it because it is for an earlier version of android. I am on Android version 16.
