Syncing Not Working for 2026?!?

Something seems to be wrong with the mobile sync process. It seems like there is some sort of cutoff that is preventing 2026 transactions from syncing from mobile back to my computer. My wife recently put in a bunch of 2025 and 2026 transactions on her phone. All of the transactions sync to my phone, suggesting that Dropbox is getting the sync data. The 2025 transactions sync back to my computer, but the 2026 transactions do not. Any idea why?

    I could help others to help you if you posted your computer operating system, Moneydance version, e.g. 2024.4(5253) and well as the sync method e.g. Dropbox Folder.

    Your phone, what type is it. e.g. Android running Android 16 and the build of the moneydance App it is running?

    I am running on three computers Windows 10, Windows 11 and Linux Ferron 2024.4(5353) using Dropbox Folder.

    Synced with two Android Phones running Moneydance build 20250323. One Android 16 the other Android 11.

    There are some sync issues. e.g. after adding a transaction you need to wait for the Last Sync info on the main screen to update before closing the App.

    Great point. Should have provided that info up front.

    I am using a Dropbox folder to sync. I store the Moneydance file in a OneDrive folder on my desktop that syncs between 2-3 other computers so I can use it on those computers as well. Computers are all Windows 11 and up to date. I am aware that it can take several minutes for a sync to catch up on the desktop. I have not had problems with this approach until recently.

    I am running Moneydance version 2024.4(5253) on the computers. Phones are a Samsung S25 and S25 Ultra, both running the latest Android system and the Android app version 2022.2 updated on 12/18/22. I don't see anything newer in the Play Store.

    One odd thing did happen in late December. The mobile app was not syncing at all - the sync date on the main screen was stuck. I found the discussion below and used the console to reset the mobile sync from my primary desktop. That seemed to work, and the mobile app syncing resumed and caught up to the current date.

    Transactions from both phones are syncing to Dropbox currently, and show up on the other phone after a sync. As I mentioned, just a couple of days ago my wife entered several transactions from 2025 and 2026 in her phone. I can see them all on my phone, but none of the 2026 transactions are syncing back to the desktop or other laptops. In addition, transactions from 2026 entered on the desktop do not appear to be syncing to Dropbox (even though the backup & sync process appears to complete successfully when exiting Moneydance) and are not showing up on the phone.

    I did also try, on one of the non-primary laptops, to use the console to reset the file from the Dropbox connection. This was after I used the same utility to fix the phone syncing issue. It took forever but eventually finished (but didn't fix the issue). Maybe there is some program sync flag / file that is now confused?

    At this point, the Dropbox file is more up-to-date than the local desktop file.

    Are you sure you don’t have the transaction register filter clicked preventing this year’s transaction from appearing. It’s a little clickable button at the top of the register.

    If you are talking about the Moneydance file, your Dataset, with the extension .moneydance then that’s a dangerous thing to do. Your data set should always remain on your computer hard drive preferably in the default location. Moving it to a folder associated with cloud storage can cause corruption and other problems. It's perfectly OK to save Moneydance Backup files, .moneydancearchive (EXPORT BACKUP) to a cloud folder.

    Stuart - definitely not filtering transactions.

    Derek - I've been using the OneDrive approach (pointed locally) for years and not had any real issues. But I appreciate the input.

    Not sure what changed, but after closing my desktop Moneydance a couple of days ago the sync/backup process took a long time but seems to have fixed everything. Desktop and mobile data complete and working fine the last two days.

    You need to relocate the dataset off the cloud storage folder to a local drive location. Your issue could exactly explain the symptoms you’ve seen.

    You can just use MD Dropbox sync to replicate your dataset to the other machines. In fact I don’t understand why / how you have OneDrive replicating dataset and Dropbox sync also replicating sync to the same machines.

    My recommendation.

    • choose a ‘master machine’

    • backup

    • turn off MD sync everywhere. Launch menu, help, welcome screen. Change to (not reopen last dataset) and to always show welcome screen. This is a temporary tweak. You can change it back later.

    • quit all other MDs

    • relocate master dataset to local disk. Use toolbox extension to do this. Restart and verify dataset ok.

    • quit MDs

    • find Dropbox hidden .moneydancesync folder and rename it.

    • launch master MD

    • enable Dropbox folders sync

    • then on the other machines. MD file new open other, from sync, select the new sync relationship.

    But. Up to you. Or just ignore this.

    OK. Turned off syncing. Renamed Dropbox folder. I now have the dataset outside of OneDrive on a master machine. All looks good in the new dataset. Turned syncing back on and did a new authorization for Dropbox.

    I actually uninstalled MD from the non-master machines, and uninstalled the MD app from my phone.

    When I re-installed the phone app, I authorized MD for Dropbox. In the Choose a Data Set screen, the dataset is not showing up to be able to sync to the phone.

    Any ideas?

    Now you have sorted out were your Dataset is stored you can try the next step.

    As stated in my first post, on my two Android phones, I am running the beta build 20250323
    I been running this build since 3/2025. Its not perfect but for me it works. After I enter a transaction on my phone I return to the main screen, look at the transactions in another account, then return to the main screen again. Wait for the Last Sync time to update then I can close the app.
    To run this build you need to sign up to be a beta tester using your phone rather than you computer, as this is more straightforward. The link is https://infinitekind.com/preview
    It can take some time for Google play page to update to show you are a beta tester and make the beta build available or make a update available if you have the app already installed.

    This build has had the pin removed under Settings, but Sean the developer has told me the next build will have a biometric option. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long.

    Since my last post Sean has just released a new build in both the Beta (https://infinitekind.com/preview) and Alpha (https://infinitekind.com/prepreview) channels, build 20260130. The includes the promised biometrics.
    However I have found some issues, reported to Sean. Best not to update until I post again.

    When Sean has fixed these issue we should be close to a new working beta.

    Android 20260204 now available. I think it fixes sync issue provided after you Save a new transaction you give it a sort time before closing the app. Bottom of screen now shows Android line. Sean is aware there are some other areas still to be fix, pin log in etc.

    I am running 20260205. Installed on the 5th Fed.

    I signed in as a tester on the Alpha page at https://infinitekind.com/prepreview
    Don’t think its available on the beta page.

    There are still issues with biometrics/pin but syncing works if wait for the date to update on the main screen before closing the app.
    Sean the moneydance developer is aware of the remaining issue and in discussion he hope to fix these soon.

    A couple of updates. I had to set up a new Dropbox account to get the sync working. But all seems good now.

    In regards to the comment about opening on another computer from the sync file, when I chose Open Other, From Sync File is not an option. I'm using the Windows version. It shows just the standard Windows file dialog box.

    Am I missing something?

    Once syncing has been setup on your main computer to sync to a secondary computers its FILE – NEW not FILE – OPEN OTHER.
