Moneydance 2026 Android app unusable due to UI problems

After updating to Moneydance Android 2026, the app exhibits a layout issue on Pixel 10 devices where the UI does not correctly account for Android system window insets (status bar and navigation bar). As a result, the Settings (gear) icon and the “+” action button are rendered fully underneath the status bar and cannot be tapped, and the sync status text at the bottom of the screen is behind the navigation or gesture area instead of remaining within the safe drawing bounds, making core interface elements inaccessible.

    Hi jeffcarp

I am using an Android Galaxy S25 and testing 20260130.

I have found a number of issues including a similar one to yours. In discussions with Sean the Moneydance developer I have made him aware of these issues and he is working on solutions. I also posted a link to your discussion so he is aware.

    Have Fun Stay Safe.

    Hi,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Rest assured, the development team is currently working on a permanent solution. Because you’re on the beta version, you’ll receive the update automatically once it’s released.

I appreciate you passing along information like this @derekkent23. Thank you.

It does seem strange that this new Android app issue is being talked about in terms of a bug and a fix. Is that really the case?

I am not a developer, but to me, this isn't so much a bug as it is a sign of an app that hasn't kept up with evolving Android design standards. A proper app designed to Material Design 3 would respect Android's forced edge-to-edge architecture and properly listen for window insets.

The approach here seems to be to maintain a legacy architecture and 'band-aid' a fix, rather than updating the app to modern platform requirements. The mobile app has been stale for at least 3 years now.

The long term intent is a new mobile application built on the same code base as the desktop software.

Given this, I expect the existing Mobile applications are largely in maintenance mode to just keep them working.

I respect that @dwg - thank you. And I do recognize that my comments may sound like I am simply complaining, which isn't productive.

We've been hearing about a new mobile app experience now for 4 years. I believe it was stated as "a top priority" in 2023. At some point the promise should be delivered.

I do believe that Moneydance remains unmatched in comparison as a complete solution but there are parts of Moneydance that are becoming so stale as to jeopardize its superiority. That's frustrating because of the monumental effort it takes to switch. I'd gladly pay more money for Moneydance for a more acceptable development pace.

There's a per app setting in Android on my device (Vivo Android 16) under the Display group. Set it to show the front camera and the top of the app will be below the notification/status bar.

Is anyone finding that setting on Pixel 9/ android 16?

    I don't find that setting on a Pixel 10. I don't think it's a native Android feature. I think it's a brand-specific customization.

I've mentioned this Android issue on the other 'syncing issue' thread. It works in landscape, just, but the UI is still compromised.

@maddy for a lot of people the technical fix for the syncing problem will be a step to far, and coupled with this usability issue I don't think that rest assured we're fixing things is really very helpful. I was taking deep breaths using the Toolbox to delete transactions and a beta app hoping a re-sync would happen and my data would still be ok. Can you at least give a planned milestone fix date, best efforts date would be ok. Rant over.

    Hi there,
On my laptop desktop the Moneydance programme works perfectly fine and I am able to backup into my laptop drive, SD card and dropbox. My issue is that I cannot now get Moneydance download data to synch onto my mobile phone, which without warning just stopped synching leaving the Moneydance app showing only an empty page!
I have reported this and received an email from you stating you will respond in time, but as yet I've heard back nothing. I have followed a number of support page forum advisory procedures, but without any success. I had the same issue some years ago and received a telephone call from your support team which resolved the problem within a few minutes. is this possible again?

    Hi richardbennett5...

I am running 20260205. Installed on the 5th Fed.

I am signed in as a tester on the Alpha page at https://infinitekind.com/prepreview
Don’t think its available on the beta page.

There are still issues with biometrics/pin but syncing works if wait for the date to update on the main screen before closing the app.

I have been testing the app for Sean the moneydance developer and he is aware of the remaining issue and in discussion he hope to fix these soon.

    Have Fun, Stay Safe.
