App trouble syncing with dropbox via windows

I'm having trouble getting MoneyDance to properly sync with Dropbox. The main issue is that the app reports it cannot find the synced file (or similar wording like "cannot locate the synced file" / file not found).
Setup details:
MoneyDance version: [2024.4]
Platform(s): [e.g., Windows]
Sync method selected: Dropbox Connection (the one where MoneyDance connects directly to my Dropbox account)
Dropbox app is installed and up to date on the device(s)
I have confirmed my Dropbox account is active with plenty of storage space

What happens:
When I open MoneyDance and try to access my file via sync, it fails with an error saying it can't find or locate the synced file.
If I go into File → Syncing (or the sync settings screen) and choose the Dropbox Connection option, I can successfully authorize / re-authorize Dropbox:
It redirects me to the Dropbox website
I log in and grant permission
I get an authorization code
I enter it back into MoneyDance
After authorization, it still doesn't locate the file – the same "cannot find the synced file" error persists.

What I've already tried:
Restarted MoneyDance and the Dropbox desktop/mobile app
Signed out and back into Dropbox within MoneyDance
Checked that the Dropbox folder is syncing properly on my computer (no paused sync or errors in Dropbox)
Ensured the .moneydance file is not stored directly inside a Dropbox-synced folder (per the official advice to avoid corruption)
Rebooted the device

The authorization step works fine, but the app still can't see or load the actual synced data afterward.

    Hi

Are we talking about syncing to a Android Phone? If yes what is the Android phone version? What build of the moneydance App is installed on the phone.

I am running 2024.4(5253) on a Windows 11 and and Linux Ferron. On my Android 11 and 16 phones I am running Beta build 20260205 and although there some outstanding issues all sync.

Moneydance 2024.4 (5253) on Mint 22.3 and Android 16 on Galaxy S25 used to
sync via Dropbox without problem. Now Android says "no file found"...

    Hi

There is an issue with syncing on Android phone.

There is a Beta build 202600205 which has some outstanding issues to be fixed, but at least it syncs if after adding a transaction you return to the main screen and wait a short time for the sync date to update, then you can close the app.

You can wait for a new stable build to become available, but I don’t know when this will happen or signup as a Beta tester at https://infinitekind.com/preview

    Hope this helps.

What likely happened is that Moneydance couldn’t properly detect or map the dataset in Dropbox, and instead of prompting you to choose a file, it just showed nothing. Reconnecting from the primary computer (the one that owns the main dataset) forces Dropbox to re-establish the correct folder structure and permissions.

-Delete all Moneydance-related files from Dropbox (carefully — ideally after confirming you have a good local backup).
-Reconnect Dropbox from the primary Moneydance desktop.
-Let it recreate and upload the dataset cleanly.
-Delete and reinstall the mobile app.
-Reconnect the app — it should now see and sync the dataset correctly.

If you want to be extra safe:
-Keep a manual backup (File → Export Backup) before messing with sync.
-Avoid renaming the dataset inside Dropbox manually.
-Let only the primary desktop manage Dropbox linking.

Unfortunately, version 2022 is no longer functional, so for the time being, you could install version 2026 of the Android app. This is a BETA version.

First, press and hold the Moneydance mobile icon to uninstall v.2022, then restart your phone.

After that, you should join the beta program so you can install version 2026 of the Android app.

You can download it from the bottom‑right corner of the preview page or directly through Google Play.

To join the Google Play Services beta:

You can sign up either in a web browser or directly on your device. Once you’re enrolled, the beta version will automatically download to any device using the same Google account. After restarting your device, the beta will be active.

    To enable automatic updates:

    Open Google Play

Tap the menu in the top‑left

    Go to Settings

    Select Auto‑update apps

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

    Hi Mandy

There are no reports of problems with Moneydance 2024.4, which is the desktop version.
