I've got the iphone app loaded on my phone, added the network extension, and the computer sees the phone. But when I enter the access key, the computer keeps saying it doesn't recognize it. I've deleted and reloaded the app, and reentred the key several times. I'm entering it left to right, then top to bottom, no spaces. And I am being careful to not use o for 0, etc. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

    I'm having the same problems using the iPAD. I've entered it with spaces after each four digits and that too doesn't work

    Any more update on this. I'm trying to determine whether money dance is for me and it hinges on the app working. I'm using a trial version if that has an impact. Have entered 48 characters without spaces as per your help file...still no success.

    why don t you guys give us an approximate timeline when your new app with fully functional sync will be ready and distributed?

    I'm sorry for our delayed response on this. There is a bug in the iApp that causing problems setting up syncing if your device has an apostrophe in it's name. If this is the case for your device, try renaming it to something without an apostrophe.

    We are working on getting the new version of the app ready, but are unable to give a solid timeline for release at this point.

    Is there any chance Moneydance could let us know what features are coming with the update? Is it just a fix to the sync issue? I would love to be able to see some of the features competing software is now offering: budgeting, DropBox sync, etc.

    I am currently an iBank user who would like to switch over to MD. I'm sorry to read it does not support a remote sync (such as DropBox). I think it could be a good solution but this is absolute must for me....

    The next version of the app is most about fixing the syncing problems. We've both improved the WiFi syncing and have added Dropbox syncing. I don't believe that there are any other major features slated for this release, though there are a few other bug fixes.

    Since the problems with syncing iOS devices has now been going on for a year or so, and it doesn't seem like there is any sort of resolution on the horizon, wouldn't it be a nice gesture towards your customers (and potential customers) to be upfront about this on the website? I have spent hours reading these discussions, trying every single suggestion made - but nothing works.

    Please don't keep misrepresenting the iOS software versions - you simply don't have a reliable product yet. And while every support person has tried to be helpful, it's clear they have no real solutions to offer. The new syncing architecture (which we've been hearing about for at least six months) is still a pipe-dream. Just post a banner on the home page that iOS syncing is not working reliably to avoid misleading more customers.

    I could summon up a little more patience if Moneydance would simply acknowledge that the iOS sync doesn't work, instead of continuing to pretend that this is a viable product. A company that treats me directly and honestly is one I will support forever, but I'm no longer convinced that Moneydance strives to be that kind of company.

    Unfortunately, I must agree with sctimm as well. One of the great benefits of MD which sold me was the ability to enter daily transactions on our iPhones and simply sync up. For the last six months, I have to collect all the receipts or review each bank transaction and then re-enter manually. Adds quite a bit of work every week in an already busy life. All we keep hearing is "its coming, its coming"...as an IT Director, if I treated my internal clients that way without being upfront on how the problem is going to be solved and when, I would probably be heading out the door. I can deal with honest updates, but this is getting a bit old. Spend the money and add contract developers to get this resolved.

    Hi Everyone,

    I've attached up an updated version of the syncing extension (with the dropbox parts temporarily disabled). I haven't released this to the public yet, but if you are having trouble syncing over wifi, can you try this version and let me know if it improves matters?

    You can install this version of the extension by selecting the Extensions->Manage Extensions menu and then using the "Choose file" button to select the attached netsync.mxt file.

    After doing the update (my extension in the extension list still shows v.14. When doing the install it shows it as version 15 but I'm not sure if it didn't override the prior version, whether I should have removed the prior version first, or if it is simply a bug in the new version reporting the old number. Can you advise? Thanks. Looking forward to trying the dropbox version when available.

    Same here. Installs saying v15, but the manager still says v14, although it may just be getting the details from the downloaded list of extensions, rather than interrogating what's actually installed? Either way, still completely fails to detect any iOS device. I should have known better than to get my hopes up after all these months.

    Can I put a password on money dance on my iPhone so if someone uses my phone they can't see my accounts?

    I am having the same luck with the updated extension - the extension list shows it as v.14, and I still get the message that "No devices running Moneydance were found." I've tried this with both an iPhone and an iPad, using Moneydance 2011r2 (803) on a Mac running OS 10.7.3.

    This shows why we need dropbox. Here are the steps I need to sync my phone to moneydance on my work laptop (windows):
    Disconnect from work ethernet.
    Join my Verizon Mifi wifi network
    Right click on internet explorer and change the internet options to no longer use the work proxy server.
    Open settings on the iPhone and go to wifi, then choose my verizon mifi network and determine the IP address assigned to the phone.
    Open the firewall program on my windows machine (Cybor Armor) and add the IP address from the last step to the friends list (the friend list is constantly erased by the program or by my work's IT police).
    Make sure Moneydance isn't running in the background tasks on the iPhone -- if so, shut it down.
    Open moneydance on the windows machine and go to file, preferences, network tab and tell moneydance there is no proxy server.
    Shut down moneydance (it seems if I don't shut down both programs after all these changes I never get a connection).
    Start up moneydance for windows again.
    Start up the iPhone Moneydance program.
    Pray. With the above steps, 8 out of 10 times I'll get a sync. If not, the start up shut down routine (making sure MD on the iPhone is truly shut down and not visible with a double click of the home button) usually works.

    Hopefully these steps may help some of the people with trouble syncing on this forum.

    Sean - please rush the dropbox sync.

    Good day to all!
    I don't think that dropbox is a good alternative to wi-fi sync. Financial data sync over internet is a security threat!!! There must be a reliable way to sync MD between portable device and PC without internet connection.
    Wi-fi sync is not a problem - I know Thinking Rock app uses it 100% reliable sync.
    Also syncdocs can be used - http://sourceforge.net/projects/syncdocs/.

    I dare not install this extension, because I have learned over the last few months not to believe anything that you read on this website.
    Apparently, Catamount have updated their desktop version since I last looked at it a year ago. I am going to re evaluate, because you allegedly can get full sync of the complete programme between the PocketMoney app for iPhone and the desktop version.
    If this is the case, then I will be deleting MoneyDance.
    You can not keep people dangling indefinitely with wooly half promises.

    We are currently in a closed beta test of the new app. Once we iron out the major bugs (which is going quickly right now), we'll do wider testing. The app will be made stable once syncing works well. I can't give a timeline for release, as we don't know what will come up during the beta, but it is getting much closer.

    will Wi-Fi sync still function/continue to be an option with the new app?
    Wi-Fi works for me and I'll continue to use the current app instead of upgrading if this feature is removed.

    As mentioned in my earlier post, I am frustrated with wifi sync in current version ( I use win 7 and iOS 5.1 iPod touch). After trying everything still the sync doesn't recognise my device. Please come up with bug fixing which you were promising since last year. Thanks

    Have you tried to close the moneydance application and reopen. What I mean is, double click on home button, find moneydance in list, hold on it until it wobbles and close. I find it doesn't always recognise the device if application was already open. If I close and reopen, it works beautifully. Just a suggestion.
