New device

Hello everyone,

I use Moneydance on my iPhone (4) and on my PC (Windows 7). The most up-to-date version of my expenses is on my iPhone 4. I've just bought an iPhone 4S, which I restored from iCloud backup. The backed up version of MD is now on my iPhone 4S; I have been using it happily for two or three days.

It has just occurred to me that I don't know whether syncing to Windows will work properly from the new device or not, given that I had not linked it to MD on my computer before I started using it. My question, therefore, is, what will happen if I try to sync the two? Will the PC version of my expenses override that on my 4S? Will I need to add it as a new device, or will the fact that I downloaded exactly the same app configuration from my backup mean that MD thinks the two devices are the same? I no longer use the version on old iPhone, but don't really want to have to transfer all my purchases to it, manually, from the 4S, in order to add a device on the laptop and restore it to the new 'phone.

Thoughts, anyone?

    Chris,

    I've asked our lead developer Sean about this, and he believes the sync should work with the new device. I'd definitely try syncing the device with your computer sooner than later though, just to be sure. We're really interested to hear how it goes, so please let us know what happens!     Hi Angie,

    Thanks for this. I've tried running Moneydance on my PC and on my iPhone, but they don't sync. If I go to Extensions and try to configure network syncing, I can press 'add device', but it then asks me for a code which I don't have (given that Moneydance is working on the iPhone already). Can I reuse my old access key, and, if so, is there an easy way to get hold of it?!

    Although, that said, I've just rebooted and tried again, and seemingly it has synced fine. Not sure what difference rebooting made, but it has worked, so please disregard the above.
