Please Please just give us a syncing solution that works
I can't remember, is it 12 months ago, it could have been longer or shorter, can't remember.... We started getting excited about being able to add transactions on our iOS devices and sync to MD and visa versa. We all followed the blog updates... Then it came out.
It worked. It failed. it is still pot luck, nothing changes in my the environment. Try taking apostrophe's out of your device name. first launch the app, then MD, then the other way around... argghh... send us your console logs, try this try that.....
many other apps can do it. why can't my MD app do it.
I don't want iCloud, dropbox or a MD server sync solution, just a simple direct wifi sync is all I crave.
Please just make wifi sync work.

I have waited a year for Money Dance to release a reliable local wifi sync solution. I have even tried Handy Bank and it may only sync via Dropbox but is not very reliable. Handy Bank is not a freeware. I switch from MS Money and fortunately I am still not giving up that software despite I have to input all finance data both in Money Dance and MS Money. Just wonder one day Ultrasoft (or any developer) may develop WP application in WP8 to get back the used to flawless mobile and desktop sync experience.

Agree. I even tried a new router and thought that fixed the problem, but no luck. Why can't WiFi sync be reliable? I don't want to use Dropbox, but I would if I thought it would work any better.

The wifi sync isn't reliable because the bonjour discovery protocol that apple provide for finding services on a local network is not reliable in certain network environments.
We are in the beta testing phase with the dropbox app. The are still a few small issues to iron out. We will post on the blog when it is ready.

Hi Ben
If you believe it is an issue with Apple, have you logged a bug report, and if so, what is the radar #.
Thanks.

We are not able to reliably reproduce the problem that seems to plague a fraction of our users with the iphone sync. However it is clear from looking at the console output from these users that from time to time the response from the bonjour library (when the discovery call is made) simply does not find all the services running on the network. Without being able to reliably reproduce the problem we cannot file a bug report. Instead we are working hard on a sync solution that will not need bonjour.

I agree that it is a Bonjour problem, but it is not restricted to just iPhone sync--I have an Android that doesn't work reliably (yes, I understand that Android sync uses Bonjour also). Just FYI, the Actiontec routers that Verizon uses have known issues with Bonjour--I had terrible problems with my wireless printers as well. I gave up on them until upgrading to the "Rev I" router--which seems to have solved most of the problems. I haven't had enough time to test it thoroughly, but the work-around that SEEMS to "wake up" Bonjour for me is to log into the router and ping my phone after re-entering the WiFi network. Then HandyBank will sync.
