Sync to Dropbox
I have installed the extension and enabled dropbox sync. On my iPad and iPhone I have both enabled dropbox sync but get this message "No moneydance data files were found that have been configured to sync using this Dropbox account. Please make sure you have installed the Network Synchronizer extension and configured it to sync using Dropbox"
I have checked via Dropbox and it has Moneydance listed as one of my apps
Any idea was it going on?

Hi Michael,
Is your Dropbox folder installed in its default location, or did you customize the folder location when you installed the program?

Hi Scott
I cannot remember whether I have customised my dropbox folder location but it is set to
c:\users\me\documents\my dropbox\

I have the same problem. After configuring network syncing on my computer(desktop) to dropbox syncing, I am propted to type encryption password, but no file in my dropbox folder is created. And my Iphone app cannot find any file in my dropbox.
My dropbox folder location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Mama a tatino\My Documents\Dropbox
This is probably the default location.

I have Dropbox installed on Windows, OSX, and Linux. The installs were never customized in anyway. When prompted for location to install Dropbox, I accepted all default suggestions.
Default Location for Dropbox is as Follows:
Windows:
/Users/username/Dropbox
OSX:
/Users/username/Dropbox
Linux:
/home/username/Dropbox

If you're unable to sync through Dropbox, you can verify first if the Moneydance extension is able to find the Dropbox folder by looking for the folder .moneydancesync in your Dropbox folder. This folder is probably hidden, so you have to configure your file manager to show hidden files and directories.
If this folder isn't present in your Dropbox folder after enabling Dropbox syncing in the Network Sync Moneydance extension, then the extension is unable to find your Dropbox folder. Part of the issue is that Dropbox has different default folder locations depending on the operating system and version (especially with different versions of Windows the location is different). The extension currently can only use the default install location of the Dropbox folder, however a future version will avoid this issue.
If you've verified that the .moneydancesync folder is in your Dropbox folder and you're still unable to sync, please let us know and we'll continue to try and diagnose the issue. If the .moneydancesync folder isn't in your Dropbox folder, please change your Dropbox folder to its default location (possibly by uninstalling and reinstalling Dropbox).

Hello - I'm new here...
I have the same problem. My DB folder is in the default /Users/username/Documents/My Dropbox. When I installed the network sync it installed a "Dropbox" folder directly under /Users/username The "created "Dropbox" folder did contain all of the neccessary files to synch with my ipad, but it was obviously in the wrong place to sync up to the DB web site, and then down to my ipad. I dragged the created "Dropbox" folder into my working "My Dropbox" folder and it synced up to the DB web site and my ipad picked it up. Obviously it would not sync any changes I made on the ipad MD app because the desktop installation of MD was still looking in the old location where it originally created it. Hope that all makes sense. Any suggestions how I might fix this. I am running a trial version of MD and the ipad functionality is key if I am to move from my 10 year old creaking Quicken installation :-)
Thanks Mick

All working fine for me now. I moved my dropbox to the default location (I uninstalled the MD network sync; moved Dropbox then installed the MD network sync again)
Works a treat now, much better than the old wifi sync which was ok but needed a bit of effort to keep everything aligned whereas the Dropbox sync requires no thought at all to keep it working. A great improvement.
My dropbox is here now, on windows 7:
/Users/username/Dropbox

Hello Scott, thanks for your suggestions.
Now I think, I have solved the problem. In Win XP dropbox installs its folder by default in C:/Documents and Settings/username/My Documents, but moneydance probably looks for dropbox folder in C:/Documents and Settings/username (here is a default folder for dropbox in Win 7).
All what I did is that I reinstalled dropbox and I set up manually dropbox folder in C:/Documents and Settings/username. Now it works fine, I can synchronize my Ipod with my older desktop (win XP) as well as with my notebook (Win 7).
I think that the simpliest solution would be if moneydance gave you possibility to choose the location of the dropbox folder. This would be independent on the type and the version of the operating system.

Hi Mick,
It sounds like you need to uninstall and reinstall the Dropbox application and, upon reinstalling it, set your Dropbox folder location to:
/Users/username/Dropbox
This should enable Dropbox syncing to work with your iPad. If it doesn't, please let us know and we'll work to diagnose the issue!

Hi Scott
Thanks for all the help. Moved my Dropbox folder and everything is working perfectly. Great App. As far as I'm concerned this string can now be closed.

Mick
