Firewall Port
I need to know the port that Moneydance uses to sync with the iPhone to open it in my firewall.

Hi JoeDr
I am sorry I didn't get back to your sooner.
The Moneydance app on the iphone sends out mdns packets on source port 5353 dst port 5353. I did a packet sniff using wire shark to verify this. This is standard for the bonjour protocol.

Ben, I just returned to my weekend place where I tried your advice. Once I added 5353 AND 5354 it worked like a charm.
Thanks

Hi Joe
I am glad to here the problem is resolved. can you give me a little more information about this resolution. Were you running a personal firewall on the desktop computer or are your referring to a firewall in your wifi router?

Ben, this is my weekend place and I am running a Netgear wireless router with its own firewall. It is quite restrictive and the only relief I have is to open specific ports. At home the wireless firewall is less restrictive and I don't have to open any specific ports to successfully sync.
I'd be glad to provide any more specific details. I love the Moneydance product.

Hi Joe
I am a little surprised that your router was passing traffic on the same local network through a firewall. If you could tell me the model of the router that might be helpfull in diagnosing the problems that other users are having.

It is a Netgear WGT624 V4.
I hope this helps others.
