Dropbox Sync

I can't get the Dropbox sync with my iPhone 5: I allow Moneydance to access my Dropbox and all I see is a screen saying "Locating Moneydance Sync Files" . I tried to remove the app, install again, restart iPhone and the problem remains. I have already removed the Network Sync extension from the Mac application to no avail.
It's an Iphone only problem, I have no problems with the Dropbox sync using my Ipad.

    Hi Adam,

That's strange that it's only happening on the iPhone and not on the iPad. Can you send us the output of your console log? This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance and clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button, then pasting the output to us here.

Also, can you send us a screenshot of the window that opens when you go to File -> Syncing in Moneydance? Here's how to take a screenshot on Mac OS X:

Please note that when opening Moneydance on the iPhone, the first screen
is "Sync options", the I click on "Dropbox" and the "Locating Sync
    Files" screen appears.

    Hi Adam,

Can you try switching to the Wifi syncing method on the iPhone, then try switching back to Dropbox? Do you have internet access to the iPhone? When you go to configure Dropbox syncing on the iPhone, are you asked to give the app permission to access your Dropbox folder?

    2)Yes.
    3)Not anymore but:
After signing out my Dropbox account, I receive this sequence of screens
(1,2,3). If i sign out Dropbox again I get a blank screen (004.png)

    Hi Adam,

When you say that the program loaded the database when you switched to Wifi, do you mean the Moneydance iPhone app loaded your data from Moneydance when you switched to Wifi? If so, then it sounds like you still have the Network Sync extension installed, because Wifi syncing isn't built into Moneydance 2012. You said you removed it earlier--did you reinstall it? If so, please make sure that it's uninstalled since it can conflict with Moneydance 2012's built0in syncing.

If you view your Dropbox folder with the Dropbox iOS app or website interface, do you have a .moneydancesync folder? Can you send us a screenshot of the window that opens when you go to File -> Syncing in Moneydance? Here's how to take a screenshot on Mac OS X:

    http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Mac-OS-X

I know I asked for this before, but we didn't receive an image of it, so I'm not sure if you forgot it or it didn't attach to our discussion, but that might help me figure out what's going on.

Sorry Scott, I thought you meant to do a wifi sync and not simply switch
on-off. So, I reinstalled the Network Sync extension, removed it again
    and the problem persists.
For the second question, yes I got this folder (see iPhone screenshot),
as I have said before, my iPad 4 Dropbox Sync works flawlessly. The mac
    screenshot also follows.
    Thanks for your attention.

    Hi Adam,

Can you try closing Moneydance and then changing the location of your Dropbox folder on your computer (to within your Documents folder, for example)? You can change it using these instructions:

    https://www.dropbox.com/help/89/en

Once you've done that, then open Moneydance and go to File -> Syncing and disable then re-enable Dropbox syncing and see if that fixes the issue for you. This will force Moneydance to connect to Dropbox directly and it should prompt you to give Moneydance permission to access your Dropbox folder, which it will need to sync your data.

    Unfortunately it didn't work,
This is sync screen, I see no Dropbox folder location anymore and, if I
try to disable and enable it, when the dropbox pages opens to allow
access, it says "The request to link the app is invalid"!
I must confess that I will use the old network sync!

    Hi Adao,

Can you try disabling and re-enabling Dropbox syncing and trying to link Moneydance to your Dropbox folder again and then sending us the output of your console log at Help -> Console window in Moneydance? It's strange that you're not able to connect.

To restore syncing via writing to the directory instead of directly connecting to Dropbox, simply use the directions I sent earlier for changing the location of your Dropbox folder and return it to within your Home folder.

    Hi Scott,

    I have solved the problem!

In order to place my moneyplace database within an encrypted disk image
for extra security, I was using the 10.6 version.
So, I unistalled it and installed the 10.8 application and the Dropbox
    sync worked.
    My questions are:
1)why does the 10.8 version downloaded from your site (and not from the
Mac Store) need to be sandboxed?
2)Is it impossible for a 10.6 version to sync through Dropbox on 10.8
    Systems?

    Hi Adao,

That's strange that the 10.7 and above version of Moneydance 2012 is working for you and the 10.6 and below version wasn't. You should, however, be able to store your Moneydance data set on your encrypted disk image in the 10.7 and above version of Moneydance. You can follow these directions:

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2012/how-to-move-your-da...

to more your data set to your encrypted disk image and then open it from there.

    Hi Scott,

I have already tried this, I push the "open other" button choose the
file and nothings happens. I am sent back to the "Getting Started with
MoneyDance" window the Account Sets list is empty.

    Hi Adao,

Can you try opening the data set again on the encrypted disk image and send us your console log output again? This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance, clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button and then pasting the output to us here.

If I try to open the Pessoal.moneydance directly, nothing happens, even
the console window is not updated. So I choose the root.mdinternal,
nothing happens but the console shows this:
Just to remember I am using the OS 10.8 from your site.

    Hi Adao,

According to your log file, you're using the version of Moneydance from the Mac App Store, which can't store your data outside of the internal Documents folder in Moneydance, which is why you're having trouble opening the data set in your encrypted file system. To continue using that version, you'll have to move your data set to Moneydance's internal Documents folder by going to Help -> Show Documents Folder in Moneydance and copying or moving your data set into the folder that opens.
