Hi - I recently sync my moneydance from my PC to my iPad but then my PC completely crashed and lost my original Moneydance file and I didn't have any backup. This means that my iPad has the most accurate data and now I got a new laptop and I'd like to know if it's possible to sync moneydance the other way around (from iPad to my PC)? I sure hope it's possible.

thank you.

Eric.

    Hello Eric,

I'm afraid I have bad news for you. The iOS version of Moneydance needs to be linked to a specific desktop version data file. If this data file is gone, then I'm afraid that there is no way to get your data back to your desktop computer. If you try to sync your iPad with a new data file, the iOS device will assume that you now want to sync with this different data file, and your data will be overwritten by the new data file, meaning all of your data will be removed from the iPad for good. At most you can still display your data before syncing so you can manually copy your data back to a new desktop file, but a better option would be to reimport as much information as you can from your bank, if possible.

I'm sorry I don't have better news for you. I strongly recommend using a file backup process in the future for your sensitive data, or a web-based syncing service such as Dropbox.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
