Error in accounts hierarchy
I have a minor problem in the accounts hierarchy as it appears in the iPhone app. Everything is ok except for bank accounts. Two of my subsidiary groups (Cash and Current [Checking]) have been put in one group designated "Cash". The combined balance of this Cash header is correct for the cash accounts in Moneydance. But the bank accounts, although lumped in with the cash accounts, are not included in the total. To clarify:
In Moneydance I have
Cash
-- Dollars -- Sterling -- Euros -- Swiss Francs -- Aus.Dollar
Current
-- Bank A -- Bank B -- Bank C
What I see in the iPhone app is:
Cash
-- Dollars, etc, etc -- Bank A -- Bank B etc, etc
As far as I can see the rest of my (extensive) accounts hierarchy is faithfully reproduced and every account is sitting below the main group heading.
This is a strange one, although not in any way fatal. But my sense of organisation rebels.
Incidentally, could I make a plea for a Cash account type rather than having to use Bank every time?

Michael,
We have submitted an app update to Apple which should resolve a number of issues our users are experiencing. We are considering implementing a cash account type, it is a common request by our users. In the mean-time, many people create these as asset accounts.
Our feature request and bug reporting system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our users to register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. Users can also vote on tickets, which helps us determine how wide-spread bugs are and which requests have the most demand.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

I've not received an answer to my question: how can I get my investment portfolio onto my iPad program/report? the iPad reports/summarizes all assets but my investments, why?
if this is not built into the iPad app, when will it be?

Investment accounts are not currently supported by the mobile app. The primary purpose of the mobile app is entering bank transactions while on the go. We will likely add investment accounts in a future version and i am afraid there is not a time line for when such a feature will be implemented.
Sincerely

thanks, I've been looking for a replacement for Money, I'm impressed with Moneydance, but really want to be able to track my portfolio on my iPad.
My laptop is 10 years old, a Dell, but my desktop is an iMac. I use Parallels to run Windows so I could continue using Money. Then when they said it wouldn't be supported, I tried 2007 Quicken for Mac, with their promise of upgrading it early this year. They didn't . . so I've continued to keep both Money &Quicken operating . .
I believe Moneydance could be the answer . . if only you can provide great portfolio apps. Your current desktop (which I just purchased recently) seems quite good. Money's portfolio was/ is the best, I encourage your developers to study it closely. There are a lot of satisfied Money users who now find themselves out in the cold . . this could be a good prospect for you.

I agree that there is a need to portfolio tracking in the Moneydance Mobil app and we will get there.
I also agree that there is plenty of room for improvement i the investment section of Moneydance desktop app. I like many of the ways MS Money implemented its investment tracking features and we will be taking those into consideration as we go forwards.
Sincerely
Ben Spenecer
