Hi Terry,
Which version of Moneydance are you using? All versions since 2012 come with syncing capability build in, so there is no longer a need to install the extension.
To setup syncing with a mobile device, you should follow the steps in this article to sync your data via Dropbox. Can you try following these steps, and let me know if you encounter any issues?

I have followed instructions but only cash accounts and a few asset
accounts appear in the app. Should the app show everything in the desktop
application?

No, the mobile app does not support all account types.

Hi Terry,
The Moneydance mobile app should show all your bank and credit card accounts. Syncing isn't partial, so if you aren't seeing an account, it's because the mobile app doesn't support that account type.
