Installing - Been here before
Due to the installation of a new hard drive, I had to download
and reinstall Moneydance 2010 into my Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Long Term
Service), as well as other applications. (all personal data is on a
external drive).
I'm having trouble getting MD 2010 to reinstall. My Applications
list tells me Java is supposedly installed but Sun Systems doesn't
seem to think so. What do I do here?
Is there a MD doc file to download? Or could some one walk me through the step by step (AGAIN!) to install onto Ubuntu 8.04LTS.
I have reinstalled MD in the past with no problems but now something doesn't seem right. Is there a missing file in the download?

Before the MD staff folks catch up to this, could you provide some more info? What did you download (which version: 2010r2(735) or the latest build 740, and which flavor of the installer - e.g. Linux installer with or without JRE, or the generic/other package)? Also what do you mean that Sun Systems doesn't think you have Java - where are you seeing this? If you are using the Linux installer, are you getting an error, or does it finish and MD won't start?
(Just trying to be helpful... I've always installed on Linux using the generic/other package, so I probably can't help directly unless you are trying a manual install.)

3.To make a short story long, I reinstalled Ubuntu 9.10 after two failed attempts installing MD on Ubuntu 8.04LTS. Everything seems to be working now the problem was with Java.
I finally got everything back to working order.

Good to hear.
(I did suspect that the Sun thing was on their Java site, checking to see if your browser has the Java plugin installed and working. Not searching your system for Java, just checking for the browser plugin. Moneydance doesn't need that, and I wouldn't worry about it unless you need to have Java in the browser.)
