Quotes and Exchange rates extension pulling in currencies correctly
Hello,
I am new to using the app and recently downloaded this app. You can get quotes from the TSX in yahoo by entering the symbol with a .to behind it (ie. Lightstream Resources is LTS.TO). This is great but the extension still recognizes these prices as USD and then converts again to CDN when the original price is already in CDN. Can this be corrected please?

Hello!
I just checked the code and we do already account for securities at the Toronto exchange being in Canadian Dollars. The problem may be that the official three letter code is CAD instead of CDN. Can you double-check that the Canadian Dollar in your currencies list has the ID CAD? If it doesn't, that would prevent the quotes and rates extension from finding it and properly setting the prices relative to CAD at download time.
Thanks!
Sean

Thanks for the reply. I was able to confirm that the Canadian Dollar currency is CAD. I am using the Quotes and Exchange rates extension. When I look at the prices they show up in USD and are then converted to CAD. For example, LTS.TO is currently at $0.045 per share but this price shows up under USD and is then converted to CAD.
I don’t think it is the conversion that is broken but the extension importing prices with .TO at the end as USD instead of CAD. I hope this explanation helps and you can help correct the issue. Also, not sure if it matters but I am currently using the free version and trailing it out to ensure it fits for me before buying.

Also, when downloading transactions can you default the category to be the same as the previous transactions. Ie. if I shop at Safeway all the time and code this to the category Groceries, can future transactions downloaded be automatically coded to Groceries?
Thanks again.

Hello,
I apologize for the delay in our reply. I'm not able to recreate the issue you describe with LTS.TO. Both Moneydance and Yahoo Finance seem to be in agreement about its current value, and there doesn't appear to be a conversion from USD. Can you please clarify where exactly you are seeing this conversion from USD? Is it in your investment account register, a graph somewhere, the Quotes and Exchange rates extension, or somewhere else? Can you attach a screenshot of what you are seeing? If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://take-a-screenshot.org/
On your second question, from what you describe, it sounds like you may not be going through the confirmation process after you download or import your data. Downloaded transactions should have a blue dot next to them in the description field. Clicking on a transaction with a blue dot should open a right sidebar with confirmation options. If the transaction is similar to one you have already manually entered, one of the options should be to merge those transactions, or you can choose other options, like confirming the transaction with the correct category. The more transactions you confirm with the correct category, the better Moneydance will get at suggesting the correct category for similar transactions in the future. More details on the confirmation process with screenshots can be found on pages 38-39 of the Moneydance user guide (http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/user-guides/moneydance-2015-user-guide).

Thanks for your reply. I see that I can now select the exchange as TSX and that has resolved the issue for me. I appreciate the responses from your support team and have purchased the full version!
