.TXF Extension Question
I am using H&R block tax preparation software and it is asking for a .TXF export file that Quicken can create to help pre-fill some of the TAX data you need to complete your taxes. I saw in the past you had a "BETA" extension for Moneydance. Do you still have it? Has it been finalized? If not, will it be?
I want to put in a VOTE for this extension (your post implied there was no demand for it so I wanted to be in the "demand" group).
Thank you. Really like MD (and really hate Quicken). Please keep improving when you can.

Hi Rob and Bill,
The TXF export extension can be downloaded from here for Moneydance
After that, you can install it in Moneydance by going to Extensions -> Manage extensions, then clicking the Add from File button and selecting the extension to install. Please be sure to not rename the extension, as it needs to have that file name to install properly.
That extension will allow you to export your tax information to TXF format.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

I can't seem to get the .TXF link to work. Has it been updated? I have version 2020.1 (1928). Thanks.

I just downloaded and installed it OK... So the link works... I've tried running it and I get errors in the console log, but it may be that it needs to be fully configured before you start... Are you getting it installed in MD? Download and then drag the .mxt file into the MD side bar on the left. Then Extensions/TXF
(not support, just a fellow user)

I got the link to work by using Microsoft Edge. For some reason, google chrome does respond to the link so I gave up and it installed using ME.
For those following my "journey", don't forget to look for the TXF extension under "extensions" in Moneydance and not "file>export" (there won't be a .TXF extension choice).
Thanks Stuart for telling me something was wrong with my computer and link was still good!

Ok, it is 2025 and I STILL need this TXF extension for my taxes. What at IK supports this extension as it is updated? Please let me know where/how to find the most recent file. I am using 2024.2 (5172).
Thanks,
Rob H

The last place I can find this is here:

There is no one maintaining this really.. But the code is hosted at the IK open source git hub location, so it can be updated if needed.
I guess the first thing to do is to try it... Does it work?
I wonder if anyone can persuade me to fix any issues....?

Note if you are unaware, that the TXF MD extension was developed by a user, long ago, and who no longer seems to be associated with it.
Note that Stuart is also a user, who has developed quite a few extensions and supports them, but taking on yet another one is of course an issue.
Moneydance itself (the company) is not associated with this, but does encourage extension development.
(And I'm a user, as well.)

It works and lists a few items that "can" be included. It looks like it may be more trouble than it is worth at this point (probalby something is out of date). I'll just do it all by hand (not a deal for me this year). Anyway thanks for looking/investigating guys. PC financial software is getting "overcome by events" I need to stop tracking my finances and really "retire". :-(
