some securities don't update prices
I recently added a Vanguard mutual fund to an account and filled in the ticker exactly as it shows when looking up prices on-line. The price does not update with the rest of my securities. After noticing this I also noticed that there are a small number of my securities that haven't been updating.
I couldn't find anything in your discussions that helped. Might there be something that I am missing in setting this up?

I'm a fellow user.
The first thing I would check is that the quote source I am using actual provides prices for the security that I am interested in. Have a look at the error log to start with.

Hi Ron
If after following dwg advice you find the Q & ER updater sources don’t support all your securities then try the alternative free third-party Quote Loader.
See http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
Download the PDF attached to post 184 and have a read. To get an overview take a look at the YouTube video by using the link in the PDF.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your quick response. After trying without success trying to find an error log or where I could test the source, Alphavantage, for whether it had access to prices for my Vanguard fund, I went bank and checked one more time and the Vanguard stock had updated along with its history. This was after several days of checking before I raised the question.
I still have a few stocks that haven’t updated since early November, but maybe some things take time.
Short answer- The immediate problem solved itself but I don’t know why.
Thanks again for trying to help.

Thanks, I have downloaded the PDF you recommend and will look into making a change. I assume that you can see the response I gave dwg that my immediate problem with the Vanguard fund mysteriously solved itself.
Thanks again,

I have a similar issue. I tested it this morning (12/27/18). It appears the Alphavantage extension updates some securities and not others. I isolated one security, SWPPX (Schwab 500 Index), and specifically asked to update for today (12/27). The routine seems to work fine (it takes an awful long of time to download one value though). Once complete, it says one quote obtained, but that quote remains at Monday's value ($35.96). Neither history nor current price for the fund were updated with yesterday's price ($37.74). I can't figure out what is going on. Especially since other securities are being updated. Individual stocks work well. Vanguard and Fidelity funds are not updated consistently. I have been a user for several years. Please advise.

Just checked Alpha Vantage and you are correct for SWPPX they are still quoting the price for the 24th.
Using the free third-party Quote Loader both sources quote $37.74
So why don't you try the free third-party Quote Loader, see post 220 in this thread http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
It has far wider coverage and is fast.

With any of the Quote sources neither The Infinite Kind (Moneydance) nor the developers of the extensions control what prices the sources provide nor indeed if and when they update such price. Some sources do a better job than others.
Moneydance's Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension provide the following sources:
Alpha Vantage
IEX Trading (US stocks only at this time)
ECB (Exchange rates)
The Quote Loader Extension provides the following sources:
Yahoo
Financial Times

Users comments and my own experience indicates that a least for funds and non US securities the two sources provided by the third-party Quote Loader provide a more reliable and often a more up to date service than Alpha Vantage.
