I recently changed to MD from Banktivity
And discovered the Quote Loader Extension
I set it up (see attachment) and it runs fine manually
But when I set it up for auto run, I doesn't work.
If, after the run time has passed, I shut down and open MD, the quote loader runs fine.
If I set it to run on startup, it runs fine
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Just set up Quote Loader to update as your screen shot but 17:00 that’s BST and with the Quote loader window closed and Moneydance running prices updated at 17:00.
Note: if you then open the Quote Loader the window looks like your screen shot, the column NEW PRICE, TRADE DATE, etc do not contain data, this is normal. The LAST PRICE and PRICE DATE have been updated and the data has been entered into the relevant security history price windows.
Can you check to see if prices are in effect updating.

Can you confirm hleofxquotes is build 259. EDIT: I can see 259 in screen shot.

You should have seen Quote Loader messages in the Moneydance status line at the bottom of the MD window at 11:00. As it Saturday the same prices would be returned, but Quote Loader should have run. As a test, in the Quote Loader window click HELP and set TURN DEBUG ON/OFF to DETAILED.
Change one of your securities that is set to DO NOT LOAD to YAHOO HD and set up auto update again. Close and reopen Moneydance. At the set time you should see the status line show prices being obtained, then an error. A message box will appear “Errors found on automatic run...........” as a clear indication that QL ran at the set time. If it looks like QL has not run post a copy of the Moneydance errlog.txt file.

For future reference a errlog.txt file is always created even if it only shows normal operation.
On computers using Mac should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
or:
Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and type in:
~/Library This should pull up your local Library folder.

Glad it is working. The errors found message means that one or more of the quotes failed. If you start QL after the message the date of the quote in error will be in red with an asterisk next to it.

To help us analyse what is going on in the future please can you set the debug level to detailed. Within QuoteLoader click on Help/Turn debug on/off and select 'Detailed'.

Restart MD and let it run for a day and then post the errlog.txt on this forum. I will then have a look at what is going on.

As Derek has pointed out there is always an errlog.txt. Alternative to looking at the file is to view the console (Help/Console). This is the errlog.txt file.

Looking at the error log this seems to be the one after you restarted MD and it ran successfully. Unfortunately MD resets the error log each time it is started so the log when there was an error was overwritten. I you could wait for it to happen again and then post the errlog.txt before restarting MD I can then see the error at time of expected run.

I’m confused as well
I was at the summary window of MD at 9:00 PM
- The area at the bottom had no update messages - The total of the investment accounts didn’t change - When I opened the QL window, the date hadn’t incremented - When I closed and reopened MD, QL ran immediately - I set QL to export the csv file and it didn’t

I notice that the quotes returned were for 5/24/19 - not yesterday

I will keep trying
Hi Stephen

After Mike last post I talk to Mike about it and Mike has edited that post.
After a edit I don't think the email is resent to you, so take a look at his edited response in the thread at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/moneydance-developme...

I have the daily QL run set for 9:00 PM (2100)
I'm not sure what the stack overflow means and what I should do about it
Derek listed your comments in his post - where do I find these
S

stephencdaytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472746592019-05-29T19:34:06Z2019-05-29T19:34:06Zquote loader won't auto run

I am not support staff, just a user.

The errlog.txt file you posted can be opened in a text editor. You will see the outdated extensions listed near the start of the file.

To find the location for extensions click on HELP – SHOW DOCUMENT FOLDER. A file finder/explorer will open. Close Moneydance. Go up one level and you should see a folder called “fmodules”. In that folder you should see all the extensions (mxt files) listed including the outdated extensions, simply delete these. Next time you run Moneydance they should not appear in the errlog.txt file. When you are running Moneydance you can see the current contents of the errlog.txt file under HELP – CONSOLE WINDOW.

I am a windows user so if you can’t find the files on your Mac as described above, maybe Mike will be able to help.

It could also be a good idea to update Moneydance at https://infinitekind.com/preview
Then see if you still get a stack overflow?

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472746592019-05-30T03:02:10Z2019-05-30T03:02:10Zquote loader won't auto run

Derek-
I deleted the files per you instructions

The issue with QL is when you run it on one evening and leave MD running until the next day. QL is not setting the time correctly. I am working on a fix.

The StackOverflow messages you were getting seem to be to do with syncing to a mobile/other machine.

Mike

Mike Bray (Quote Loader Author)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472746592019-05-30T08:39:02Z2019-05-30T08:39:02Zquote loader won't auto run

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Stephen

If you want to remove all reference to deleted extensions in the errlog.txt / console window there are two methods. Read through them and decide which method you are happy with.

But first click on HELP – SHOW DOCUMENT FOLDER. A file finder/explorer will open. Close Moneydance. Go up one level and you should see a file called config.dict. Copy this file so you can reinstate it, if required.

This file contains all your preferences excluding any customized theme you may have set up.

Config.dict also contains your licence key, make a copy of the key from HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE.

The first method, with Moneydance closed is to delete the config.dict file. When you open Moneydance it will be recreated with all the default setting. You will need to set all your preferences again, re-install all your extensions and re-enter your key under HELP – REGISTER MONEYDANCE.

The second method is to edit the config.dict file in a text editor to remove reference to the deleted extensions.

For example, say you had deleted the extension priceui.mxt, in the config.dict file you will find the following lines.

"priceui" = { "verify" = "Y" "id" = "priceui" }

Delete these lines and save the file.

The message “file not found for priceui extension” would no longer appear in the errlog.txt file or console window.

Do this for the actual extensions you have deleted.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472746592019-05-31T09:13:32Z2019-05-31T09:13:32Zquote loader won't auto run

Stephen
Hi Stephen

Sean the Moneydance software developer has decided that all extension that are publicly available should to be signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance) to protect users from extensions that may be unsafe. Hence the warning.

Mike Bay the developer of Quote Loader has been updating the build of Quote Loader taking the opportunity to add some small feature enhancements in preparation to submit the extension to Sean. Myself, Kevin N and DWG, experience Moneydance users have just completed testing on this latest build. The new PDF, Videos etc are almost ready, so the next step will be with Sean. As Mike and Sean have discussed the way forward already, hopefully sign off will not take long.

It’s up to you if you use the current Quote Loader system with its warning until then. I first started using Quick Loader back in September 2018.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472746592020-01-23T19:11:02Z2020-01-23T19:11:02Zquote loader won't auto run

Derek-
