I am on Moneydance 2019.3 (1880)

I followed the installation guidelines. "Quote Loader System by Mike Bray & hleofxquotes 2019 V7.0

I tried to download the extension Installer "extinstaller.mxt" but when i follow the link the extension installer is not included in the suggestions.
I just clicked on the download repository and somehow managed to have the Quote Loader available in my "Extension" menue. When I try to run it I receive the message that the Extension Rhumba is not present.

Could you please advise how to proceed.
Please note that I am a user and not a developer. I would be happy to just have a simple reliable security/Fx upload. Appreciate any help

Thanks,

    Hi hborchert2

The instructions you are trying to follow are out of date hence the issues you are having.

Hleofxquotes has drop out of the Quote Loader project. Mike Bray is now the sole developer. Quote Loader has now been signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance) and can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.

For full information of how to move from the old Quote Loader or for new users install Quote Loader see post 9 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...

Download the PDF attached to posts 9 and have a read.

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Derekkent23,

Thank you for your response. I followed your instruction and I think it worked. I just have a few more questions.

    1) I saved Selected Values and the Parameters. After I close the quote loader and re-open it the new price column shows 0.0 for all Securities. However, the Price date is updated. Just wanted to make sure that this is ok.

    2) I do have some bonds which have CUSIP. The correct CUSIP is shown under Ticker but non of the suggested sources updates the CUSIP value. Do you have any idea how I can automatically update the CUSIP Bonds?

    Thank you,

    Heike

    Hi hborchert2

    Glad you got it working.

    1) What you are seeing is correct behaviour. Close an reopen Quote Loader and New Price, Trade Date, Trade Currency and Volume are reset waiting for you to click Get Prices to obtain new data. The Last Price and Price Date reflect the data help in the Security Price history window for each security.

    2) I am not familiar with CUSIP’s as I am in the UK. If they are not traded on an exchange then they are probable not supported by Yahoo or FT. Can you post say 4 examples, full name and the ticker symbol and I will check. If all else fails and you can get the prices for these securities from another source you can add them to the associated New Price box manually. See page 7 of the PDF point 2).

    Hope this helps

    Hi hborchert2

Not sure they are supported. Can you put a price against each so I can see the approx price you hope QL will return. I can then check further.

    Hi hborchert2

Sorry, as far as I can tell neither Yahoo or FT support your example CUSIP.
Best you can do is after you do a Get Prices manually enter them into the New Price boxes along with a Trade Dates.

    Hope this helps

    Hi hborchert2

You got e curious on that one!

The CUSIP number has no relation to its market price, so, presumably,
not relevant to Quote Loader. It is an identifcation for research and
    documentation purposes. see

    Hi sprimost,

    Thanks for your response.

CUSIP’s are widely used in the US e.g. to recognize corporate issuance. I believe ISIN is the equivalent in the international market. I can imagine that many investors have exposure to corporate debt and I am therefore wondering if there is any other tool in money dance which supports CUSIP or ISIN updates.

    Hi hborchert2

As far as I know, no automatic support for CUSIP’s within Moneydance. You can enter them manually into Quote Loader.

ISIN tickers are another matter. If you look at the Quote Loader PDF then in the screen shots you will see prices returned for ISIN Ticked Securities. There is a paragraph relating to ISIN tickers at the bottom of page 6.

Most of my securities are funds and they all use ISIN ticker and are supported by Quote Loader.

ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) is a true global standard. In the PDF I only used GB and IE ISIN traded securities as examples.

However, an example of a US traded security would be US3696041033 General Electric Co traded on the New York Stock Exchange. US3696041033 is recognised by FT but not Yahoo.

    Hot this helps.
