The menu item 'Set Up Online Banking' is deliberately disabled when viewing the Summary Page.

Navigate to the account that you want to set up online banking for and try the menu item again.

Take your time when going through the various screens of the Set Up Online Banking routine. It is imperative that you get things absolutely correct.

I am now able to enter my online banking details, but am coming across another issue. I am getting an error when trying to communicate with my financial institution. The "2000 error code" that I see is mentioned a lot in this forum. I am sure it's user error (me). Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks! Michelle

Michelletag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/460485132018-09-09T12:26:19Z2018-09-09T12:26:19ZNew user, unable to get started

Hi Michelle,

Sorry to hear you're encountering difficulties when connecting with your bank in Moneydance. Can you let me know the name of the financial institution you're trying to connect with? Have you contacted your bank to ensure Direct Connect services are active on your account?

Many financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for direct connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that you can not connect in Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."

Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.

I had to call my bank twice and talk to two different people to get them to set up my account properly.
Tip: never say you are using anything other than Quicken. The customer service person will immediately start with the "we don't support that software". It took many go arounds to get the person at my bank to stop thinking about the software I was using and to set up the direct connection.
I used to have the direct connection with Quicken and was told it was still working. Well apparently it wasn't.

Michelletag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/460485132018-09-10T06:46:04Z2018-09-10T06:46:04ZNew user, unable to get started

Glad to hear everything is working Michelle! I'll close this discussion for now, but don't hesitate to get back in touch if you have further questions or need any assistance.
