Online banking support from UK banks?
I'm considering switching to Moneydance. I live & work in the UK - are there any UK banks that fully support online banking using the OFX (Open Financial Exchange)? Which UK bank best supports Moneydance? I'd like to by able to sync. transactions with the minimum of hassle, ideally without logging on via a bank's website, then downloading a file, then importing it into Moneydanace..
Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

To my knowledge none of the UK banks support direct connections from personal finance software via the OFX protocol. Many UK banks will let you manually download OFX files from their website but for reasons that I can only speculate about UK banks don't want you to use direct connections. I think the reason is almost certainly that if you are downloading transactions directly rather than logging into their website they cannot advertise new financial products at you. Fortunately the UK government looks to be taking some regulatory steps requiring banks to allow users to download data in a standard way although it is hard to know what will come of this.
