I know it is a long standing problem with no easy solution.

rsmerrintag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467356592019-01-01T01:31:43Z2019-01-01T01:31:43ZMoneydance 2019

I'm a fellow user.

MD 2019 is supposed to see the basis of an alternative solution to direct connect included, at the moment I'm not sure how much is there as the beta version is not doing quite what I expect in that space. Sean has said it will not be complete in the initial release of MD 2019 in any case, but that it will come in a post release update.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467356592019-01-01T20:56:17Z2019-01-01T20:56:17ZMoneydance 2019

Thanks DWG it is not the answer to the question but it was helpful. Canadian banks will not give residential customers access to direct connect. We are forced to use Web Connect. It means I have to down load each bank account or credit card separately save the file and import to money dance. I have one site that only allows to download a .csv file. I then run a conversion add on, in Excel which gives me a .qif file. The I save the .qif file. Then import the file into money dance. Needles to say money dance in my case is not as user friendly as I would like it to be but whit I like about money dance is that it does not store my banking usermame and password in the cloud like quicken does.

rsmerrintag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467356592019-01-01T21:25:36Z2019-01-01T21:25:36ZMoneydance 2019

Web Connect is a proprietary Quicken technology so TIK cannot just use it.

To use Web Connect they would likely have to pay Quicken licensing fees and that does not make good business sense, hence TIK need to look at developing something to interact with the banks Web site so that they can achieve an outcome similar to Web Connect and that is what we are starting to see the foundation of in MD2019.

I am getting to the point were inside of moneydance I can actually log onto my Bank's website and navigate around. I cannot download yet nor is there any automation available at this stage.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467356592019-01-03T00:04:19Z2019-01-03T00:04:19ZMoneydance 2019

I have been talking to my bank about this and you are correct about Quicken / intuit and Web connect being a product of Inuit. The other issue is that you have to be in compliance with Canadian banking laws. That is according to my bank.

rsmerrin
