USAA - one account error 2003
Hello,
I have six checking / savings accounts with USAA and one credit card.
Until last week, all accounts were downloading successfully thanks to the toolbox extension.
Now one account (which is a savings account where I am the joint holder with my daughter) is getting a 2003 error which I understand means that USAA doesn't recognise the account. A similar account where I am the joint holder with my son continues to download without issue.
I can view the problematic account via USAA app and website.
I have double-checked the account number & routing number for the problematic account via Account -> Edit Account.
I can see the correct routing number & account number being sent to USAA via the console.Retuned from USAA:
<STATUS>
<CODE>2003
<SEVERITY>ERROR
<MESSAGE>Account Not Found
</STATUS>
Any suggestions? I do have Moneydance+ - is there a reason NOT to convert the download mechanism to Plaid for USAA accounts?

Sounds like that account is not quicken download enabled?

I removed the download capability for the account and re-added it via Setup Online Banking OFX - when I get the list of accounts from USAA, the problematic account is missing.
So definitely a USAA issue! I will probably have to contact them, pretending to be using Quicken!

Reason not to move to md+ …
OFX downloads are close to immediate as you connect direct to USAA …
MD+ downloads can be delayed 2-5 days due to having plaid as an intermediary.
Stuart may have it correct that 3rd party permissions have somehow been removed from this particular account who’s why it no longer shows in the available accounts list. You may want to check that first… if so also check that the quicken login/password changed for that account. If not different you will probably connect again. If somehow different, there is another toolbox command to manage that.
If 3rd party is on you may need to pretend you are using quicken but I’d try to solve it myself first as you know more than the agent you will call

Thank you for the suggestions. Interesting re MD+/Plaid and how you get a delayed feed of data.
I use the same login for all seven (six checking / savings, one credit card) accounts.
When I have the time, I'm going to disable my "quicken" details on usaa.com, request a new set of credentials and go though the setup process again in moneydance.
Will let you know how it goes!

I would still check your joint daughters account to see if some things changed even if you did not do it

Aggregators work on an acquire/store/retrieve basis.
You retrieve what ever transactions they have using Moneydance. But the aggregator acquires the transactions from the Financial Institution more on a schedule basis and stores them for your later retrieval, Aggregators do no acquire transactions on a demand basis. How often they retrieve them, what happens if errors are encountered etc is a bit of an unknown.
Direct Connect (OFX) is a superior method.

My daughter doesn't have access to the account via her USAA login credentials so nothing has changed on the account (at least that can be changed via the USAA website).
I revoked the Quicken credentials on the USAA website and then requested a new set - same username & password were generated (should I be surprised?) And of course, the problematic account is still not displayed in the Moneydance drop down list.
Looks like I need to phone USAA when I have the time to do so. The problematic account doesn't see much activity so it's not urgent yet.

Having the same username/password for Quicken is good. Not displaying in the Moneydance drop down list, indeed suggests a problem.
You need to get Quicken :) working again with your daughter's account.

Solved!
The problematic account had had no activity (except interest paid) for more than 12 months. As a test, I transferred $1 into the account yesterday and when I went through the online banking ofx setup process in MD today, the account *was* in the drop down list returned from USAA.
Re Plaid aggregator - I noticed the issue with the delayed feed today as I have a credit card bill from Chase that was generated yesterday. A charge to my card from Friday was not downloaded by Plaid but was included on the bill. Luckily only one charge so it was easily identified but I can see this being an issue if there were multiple charges that needed to be added to MD in order to reconcile the bill.
Thank you for all the community help as always!

Ah yes, the dormant account issue!... I actually documented that - what - about two years ago now when Stuart fixed the USAA special code issue. Totally forgot about that aspect.
The missing transaction will eventually turn up (probably in a day or three), but yes, you noticed the delay.
Glad you figured it out!
