Duplicate entries in my register
I don't use MD nearly as often as I ought to so I'm not sure when the problem started, etc.. Today I was looking back at Dec 22 & discovered that there were numerous duplicate or triplicate entries (or even in some cases, quadruplicate). In the last year or two I signed up for MD+. I'm assuming the multiples were created by trying to download any new (not previously downloaded) transactions in MD+ or one time I tried the old method. I assumed that these services would only download xaxns that were not previously downloaded. Is this incorrect? Is there some setting that I missed. I've already spent an hour or more cleaning up my files & have just done Dec 22! In case it's relevant I'm running MD on a Mac running 14.1.1 & MD 2023.3 (5064). I don't recall what versions I was running when the duplications occurred, sorry. Please help.

It could be quite helpful in merging the duplicates. You might want to start with a small sample and test it by adjusting the date range that MD will look at for duplicates.

Downloads are checked for duplication, but MD uses the hidden FITID field to determine if it is a duplicate. Normally that works well, but if you used MD+, then the old method, the FITID will definitely not match and it will duplicate (because non-matching FITID fields mean it "must not be a duplicate").
If you are cleaning up, realize if you delete 1 of 2, then redownload, it may download yet again, if you deleted the one that had the same FITID as the new download. If this happened to me (and it has under different circumstance), I would tend to delete all the duplicates, reset the sync date and download them all one more time.
Doing a backup first of course!

Thanks for the info. I know how to merge transactions; I was hoping there might be a simple way to do it rather than one-by-one. However, I'm unwilling to trust MD to automatically merge transactions as I'm constantly surprised how bizarre its selection of xaxns is that it offers as potential matches; they usually don't match in, $, name of payee, date, anything. I've also seen the bizarre categories that MD puts in newly downloaded transactions. So I spent the hours, cleaning up myself.

Thanks for the info. I would like to reset the sync date and I stumbled on the option, though I don't remember where it was. The other question I have about it is does selecting reset pop up an option to name the date or is it today's date automatically, or conversely, just eliminated?
On a somewhat related topic, I have just discovered that one of two visa accounts I have at one bank is matched correctly in the list of accounts in MD+, but is actually importing the xaxns from the other account! How would I correct that? Would I have to delete that bank from MD+ or is there a way to edit the match?

You could try removing and recreating the connection. In order to achieve this navigate to Online menu->Moneydance+ Set up->Accounts and where it reads "Connected" on the right, click and select disconnect in the popup. Then try to recreate the connection as outlined here.
You should navigate to the bank's website to check that your accounts are individually enabled for third party access and they do not require a on-time authorization password for instance.

Well, I tried deleting just the account & reconnecting it and it didn't work and then I tried disconnecting the bank and that didn't work either. Then I tried resetting the downloads back to 2.23 & the same thing. I also checked my bank and the two accounts have the correct entries. Now what?
