Schwab + "Journaled Shares"
Hi. I'm having trouble with MoneyDance+/Schwab/"Journaled Shares". I'm on MoneyDance 2023.3. I'm have been using MoneyDance+ to sync multiple Schwab accounts for months. Recently my wife inherited a brokerage account at Schwab. The initial state of the account has transactions listed with actions of "Cash Dividend", "Credit Interest" and "Journaled Shares". When I do the "Download Transactions" I only get the first two actions. The Journaled Shares never appear. I have no idea how to debug this. There are dozens of types of shares so I don't want to do this manually. So far I've tried:
-Reset Sync Date (on the account)
-Relink connection
-Disconnect Schwab (and then create a new connection)
And none of those worked.
Schwab allows exports, but not to a quicken-like format. I'm unable to see a path from csv/json/xml to an import in MoneyDance.
Thanks for any help/advice!

I tried messing with Toolbox. The only new thing I have now is that in "View Online Txns/Payees/Payments" => "OFX Online Transactions" => "Schwab account" I can see that the getOnlineLedgerBalance() is actually correct, even though my local balance is way off (repressing only the cash transactions). I also see getTxnCount() is 0, which might be the problem? I tried resetting sync date and re-downloading again and going back into this menu and I see basically the same information. I still don't see a way to see what the download from Schwab looks like, to see if the stocks are there but weird or just not there at all.

I also found "Toggle Other MoneyDance DEBUGs" and enabled the first two (DownloadedTxsView OnlineUpdateTxsWindow). I didn't see anything new in the console. I also couldn't find any new windows/menu options to open windows (the variable names made me think maybe it wasn't just console logging, but instead some kind of new debug window somewhere).

I imagine that Plaid is NOT sending the data to md+ in the first place... What export format can you manually get? Is the data in that?

Schwab seems pretty unfriendly for exports. All I see is csv/json/xml, but I don't see a way in MD to import those into an investment account. I found a thread somewhere in here about how you might be able to convert one of those formats into a compatible format (I want to say QIF?), but it was noted this was complicated/error prone to try.
But to be clear, the transactions I'm missing DO appear in the export. However, they are labeled as "Journaled Shares". I'm concerned maybe Plaid and/or MD doesn't handle this type of transaction?

Unlike ofx, md+ imports hide the data stream.. There is no logging available (which is a shame)... You would need the IK developer (Sean) to look/comment...

I appreciate the comment! It's good to know when the thing you need is impossible to do, saves you some time clicking around :-)
I probably would have saved time at this point just manually entering the transactions. Classic developer blunder...

I find that Journaled Shares are not often provided by Schwab through the "download stream" whatever that means.
Even when they supported OFX, I'd find a journaled shares entry simply not provided by Schwab. I have seen that in MD+ as well (but blame Schwab as not providing).
Luckily I have journaled shares entries only about 3-4 times a year, but (almost) always have to input them manually.
I tried to analyse this once when I had two at the same time, and it seemed like the journaled shares had dates 1-2 days in the past, but that could be very peripheral as I didn't double down to figure anything out. (I avoided classic developer blunder... ;) )

Thanks for the additional context! I'll just have to roll up my sleeves and manually enter some data :-)

Happening to me again. All of 44 cents, but of course it has to be perfect.
Come on Schwab, give me the data!
