When I try to connect to some banks e.g. Chase/Citi, I get an error with Plaid as shown in the screenshot. Inspecting the web traffic, I found request to "https://production.plaid.com/link/workflow/next" has the following error in its response:

{
    "event_name": "ERROR",
    "metadata": {
        "error_code": "ADDITION_LIMIT",
        "error_message": "addition limit exceeded for this client_id. contact support to increase the limit.",
        "error_type": "RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED",
        "exit_status": "",
        "institution_id": "ins_56",
        "institution_name": "Chase",
        "institution_search_query": "",
        "request_id": "redacted",
        "link_session_id": "redacted",
        "mfa_type": "",
        "view_name": "",
        "timestamp": "",
        "selection": "",
        "brand_name": "",
        "match_reason": "",
        "routing_number": "",
        "account_number_mask": "",
        "view_variant": "",
        "is_update_mode": ""
    },
    "webview_redirect_uri": "plaidlink://redacted",
    "queue_behavior": "QUEUE_BEHAVIOR_ENQUEUE"
}

According to Plaid Doc's "Ask Bill" chatbot, this error should happen only in Development environment. Can you double check your server has been properly configured with Production keys instead of Development keys or reach out Plaid support to increase this limit? I have also attached the answer from Plaid's chatbot.

    I've reported this to MD/IK directly in another area.

    Is there a time frame on resolving this?

    I signed up yesterday for an annual subscription to Moneydance+ as an add-on to MD2024 and I am getting this error with every institution I attempt to connect to.

    I am seeing elsewhere that this is a known issue and there should have been some sort of disclaimer in the subscription process so I could have delayed signing up until it actually worked.

    rl, you may be on to something. According to status.plaid.com, they shut down the development environment June 20th. That's about the time I started having this problem. If mdplus didn't properly migrate, that could be the problem.

    The development environment was being used by Moneydance+ to test connections in the UK, not for users in North America.

    Test users got the message "Development_Environment_Brownout"

    If US users were using the development environment I would not expect those users would be able to download anything using Plaid as I would expect it to stop completely. This problem is referencing new connections only.

    Confirming Moneydance+ is using production tokens.

    Within https://mdplus.infinitekind.com/tik/plaid_link page, I'm able to see code like
    const handler = Plaid.create({
    token: 'link-production-xxxxxxx', }

    According to https://plaid.com/docs/quickstart/glossary/#tokens-identifiers-and-..., this is indeed a production token. Therefore, the issue would be on the Plaid side, as it only affects some banks.

    I am also seeing this error (the internal error occurred screenshot). It's happening with both my bank and credit card companies.

    I am see the same issue. Unable to add two Bank of America Credit Cards. Moneydance+ is full of problems. One month is works great (other than being a couple days behind on transactions) the next month it's broken. Let's try to work on a full proof solution.

    Could you try upgrading to the latest preview version (if you haven't already) and re-create the connection?

    Moneydance 2024.2 (5139) is now available to download from this page. This is a free upgrade for you!

    You should remove the older version and restart Moneydance!

    Finally, navigate to Online->Set up Moneydance+ and where it reads "Connected" on the right, click and select disconnect in the popup. Then try to recreate the connection as outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base called Connect Accounts with Moneydance+.

    Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

    Maddy,

    It is kinda disappointing that you would make this suggestion when many of us tried this exact strategy two weeks ago and it doesn't help at all.

    This is **clearly** a Plaid/MD+ server issue that needs to be resolved not anything to do with the MD program itself.

    When one makes this suggestion to try and upgrade it could give those of us who have been patiently waiting for resolution doubt that anyone at IK/MD understands or is listening to the discourse on this forum.

    - Installed 2024.2 (5139) on Linux Mint over 2024.1. Same Error.
    - I did a fresh install 2024.2 (5139) to a Linux Mint. I started a new file. I disconnected all my prior accounts. I connected the new install/file. I tried to add an account. Same error.

    As jehrler and dwg say, this is not specifically a Moneydance problem.
    It's a Plaid/MD+ issue.

    I understand what you are saying (dwg/dtd). However, I was asked by official support to try something, so I tried it, and now reported it. Having more numbers saying it's not fixed can't hurt.

    Since I'm brand new to + I think I'm going to cancel the subscription and circle back around when everything works. I can't connect to anything at all via Plaid.

    I was doing perfectly fine using OFX and downloads - this was SUPPOSED to be easier.

  16. 16 Posted by dtd on 09 Jul, 2024 02:35 AM

    dtd's Avatar

    It usually is easier - but I'd agree with your concept. I could easily see this being another week or two, or July, process as it depends on Plaid and Moneydance talking and discussing this issue (and possibly implications we don't know about).

    Older users (like me), got all set up, so we're only losing accounts that need resetting (I now have one), but it mostly still works for me, but new users having to set up a lot of accounts? A non-starter for sure.

    MD is looking at alternatives to Plaid, and have been for a time, since Plaid's price for international connections appears to be not acceptable. I'm sure this current incident will also affect MD's thoughts on this.

    Plaids international coverage is also pretty poor, it really boils down to a handful of countries in Europe, not exactly great for a company that sells its product worldwide.

    The aggregator of most interest does not support the U.S.

    There is some complexity around the use of aggregators, the issues seem to come down to things like:

    - Country coverage
    - Privacy - some aggregators come out any say they use the data themselves, analyze it and sell the results (in an aggregated form).
    - Price
    - Willingness to deal with a U.K. based company - some seem to want a U.S. corporate presence, at least, if not U.S. based.

    FYI: Although we are now able to add new accounts, MD+ can now only download 90 days of data instead of 24 months. Created a new discussion: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/online-banking/12492...

    When was the last time you downloaded Chase/Sofi as a new account to get 24 months? That might be pertinent.

    Around 6/21, so pretty recent and right before we had issues with adding new accounts. I think the likelihood is low for many banks changing their history limit to the same length at the same time. And since the default value for days_requested is 90 for Plaid's transaction API, I suspect this is caused by changes coming from MD+/Plaid.
