Probably just a temporary glitch, but I have not seen it before:

Toolbox is safe. Both cleanup banking connections and force disconnect is safe. FYI. The latter option auto runs the cleanup anyway/too

Cleaning up the banking connections worked for me. I was able to select OFX
for Vanguard and then successfully set it up.

@Stuart, I can confirm the toolbox suggestion you made did the trick. Minor point of clarification, the option is "Cleanup missing Online Banking Links". The steps I took were to: a) Disconnect Vanguard from MD+
b) Run the Toolbox tool (update mode, Online Banking Tools, Cleanup missing...)
c) Click on Vanguard account
d) Click setup online banking.

I'd like to know if there is a way to message Van and say "thanks". I don't care for their message platform and I didn't see a specific choice for addressee that would be appropriate. Just wondering if someone has a suggested path to do this.

I did the Toolbox - Clean up missing online acounts, then I did the OFX setup for Vanguard. Before I did my first new OFX download I did a Reset Sync date. That way I minimized the duplicates. Thanks again to Stuart B for Toolbox!

Hi all,
I am pleased to hear that the Vanguard OFX connection is working again.
As discussed, if you have set up Vanguard downloads with Moneydance+, you will need to remove this connection before you can use OFX Direct Connect again. To do this, you can follow the steps below.
If you wish to cancel your Moneydance+ subscription, open Moneydance and select Online > Set Up Moneydance+. Then choose "Manage Account" at the bottom left of the window.
Alternatively, you can email [email blocked] and we'll cancel the subscription for you.
If you have not set up Moneydance+ downloads, your OFX downloads may simply work again without any changes. Click your account in the side bar and select Online > Download AccountName Transactions.
If you encounter any problems, skip to step 3.
1)
Open Moneydance and select Online > Set Up Moneydance+.
Select the Accounts tab.
On the right of the Vanguard connection, you will see "Connected".
Select this and click "Disconnect".
2)
You may need to use the Toolbox extension to fully remove the Moneydance+ connection. To do this, follow the steps below -
Download the Toolbox extension via Extensions > Manage Extensions.
Once installed, select Extensions > Toolbox.
Enable "Update Mode" at the top of the extension window.
Then select "MENU: Online Banking Tools".
Choose "Cleanup Missing Online Bank Links".
Hopefully, that will work and allow you to follow the instructions in step 3.
If not, open the Toolbox extension again.
Enable "Update Mode" at the top of the extension window.
Then select "MENU: Online Banking Tools".
Choose "Force Disconnect an MD+ Connection".
3)
Select your Vanguard account in the sidebar.
Then select Online > Set Up Online Banking.
Click the "Disable" button. If you don't see this button, close the setup window.
Repeat these steps for any additional Vanguard accounts.
Select your account in the sidebar again.
Then select Online > Set Up Online Banking > Connect to OFX Service.
Select Vanguard from the list of banks.
Then follow the prompts to enter your login credentials and connect with your accounts.
If needed, the steps are also outlined here, with screenshots of the setup process.

@Jenny - thanks for your instructions. However, I get a Disclaimer dialog box during the "Cleanup Missing Online Bank Links" step and no matter what I do, clicking OK gives me a, "User did not accept Disclaimer - no changes made". Can you say how I get around this? I tried changing the No to Yes, but that didn't help.
Never mind, typing IAGREE without a space did the trick.

Vanguard is supporting OFX again! It seems that a number of protesting folks make a difference!
@roy, Though a number of us complained to Schwab they stuck to their position. So success is not guaranteed but the cost of trying is low. It is now too late to convince Schwab to go back on that decision.
And yes you will get duplicate transactions again as you move back from MD+ to OFX. It seems that they use different ID numbering scheme. Since it has been a month since they dropped OFX it is not too bad to cleanup.

I just want to add that I think the fact that several / many of us who directly contacted VANGUARD likely made the difference. The OFX function is working perfectly again.

Can anyone say if going from OFX > Moneydance+ > OFX has any implications on restoring from the original OFX backups?

I didn’t bother restoring from backup, just deleted the MD+ transactions and re-synced. Seemed easier.

I'm a bit behind everyone, just discovering today Vanguard's reversal. Direct Connect is working for me now just fine, even though earlier today I subscribed to MD+ and began the setup via Plaid.
Thanks to everyone who contributed here. I am due to speak to a Vanguard rep later this week and will mention how pleased MD users are at the reversal and encourage Vanguard to maintain OFX. Thanks again to all.

Just to make life interesting, another glitch and the solution for those who had given up on QFX and added Vanguard to MD+:
After QFX was restored, I kept getting messages from MD+ that the Vanguard connection had "expired" (sorry, I didn't record down the exact wording). MD+ wanted me to re-authorize the connection and started a process to do that -- but that process failed after I entered my Vanguard logon credentials. This happened several times over the course of several days.
Following the instructions posted by Jenny (see above), I tried to set up online banking for a Vanguard account, but that just took me directly to MD+ which wanted me to reauthorize.....
I also could not disconnect any Vanguard accounts individually because the accounts were not listed on the MD+ accounts page because MD+ needed me to reauthorize....
Finally, on the MD+ accounts page, I just hit the REFRESH button off to the right of "Vanguard". Voila! No re-authorization needed after all. I subsequently followed Jenny's directions for disconnecting MD+ for Vanguard accounts (and yes, I did need to use the Toolbox extension to clean up the dead connections) and re-established the direct (QFX) connections.
Hope that helps anyone in the same situation.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I never did go back to MD+ to see if I could make it work again for my Vanguard accounts after all this messing around! So long as the Direct Connect method is working, that's what I'll use. (But I do need MD+ anyway for my bank.)
Also, if I ever happen to meet Stuart Beesley (developer of the Toolbox extension), I'm buying the first round....

VANGUARD OFX BROKEN AGAIN!
Same error as before - redirecting to a non secure server. Seems like Vanguard has reversed their reversal. It could be a reversal glitch, but I doubt it.
MD+ is still working for Vanguard.
We may be back at the starting point again. Sigh.
Note: this has NOTHING to do with the 5219 update today. Vanguard OFX no longer works on any version of Moneydance (again).

Thanks, broken here to. I happened to download .ofx last night for my RMD accounts and it worked then. Also, I'm still using build 5172 confirming that this problem has nothing to do with 5219.

It is true.... I am traveling but Vanguard needs to be informed that whatever fix they did had a code reversion. I am traveling and probably won't get to it until next week, but someone with a problem ticket number call and refer to that as the issue again.

Well this just plain sux, again ... I have submitted a MESSAGE to them. Will likely have to call them and escalate again to their IT dept. I suggest we all do the same.

Thanks Tim. That makes total sense. However, when I login and go to messages, there is no send msg option shown. There is a chat button. But when I tried that last time I got 100% nowhere. And the Sent Messages folder is 100% empty. Same in Chrome as well as Firefox. So at least for me, it seems I can either chat or call (again). Best
