Hello,
I have two Vanguard accounts - one for my wife and one for me. I am using Moneydance+. My wife's account is synching without any issues. My own Vanguard account is not. I get the following error:
The error code reported by the server was: 0
Error type: INVALID_INPUT
Error code: ADDITIONAL_CONSENT_REQUIRED
Item ID:....
Request ID:...
Message: client doe not have user consent to access the PRODUCT_INVESTMENTS product

When I go to Set Up Moneydance+, it shows Connected for both of the Vanguard accounts and lists the two Investment accounts in each. When I select them individually, they are linked to the right accounts.

When I log in to Vanguard, I don't see any error messages or settings I can change.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,

just a user here - you did say "any advice appreciated".

My Vanguard accounts work, but my Home Depot Credit card said it needed "relinking" (which is basically what Vanguard is asking YOU, not your wife). Appears somehow that the third party access didn't go through for you.

Home Depot had been working, but suddenly nothing I could do could get it to relink. It kept saying, you are linked when obviously I was not. So I disconnected Home Depot then started it up again from scratch.,, since it was new and not stuck anymore, the validation process went through, and it started working anew.

I assume you have two Vanguard listings, not one - (I have 4 separate chase listings), so maybe you could wipe away yours and start again. If they are combined that's a bit more complicated, but maybe you could disconnect it and reconnect it (but I suspect that might not be enough).

Just some thoughts - hope it doesn't mess you up even further if you pursue it.

    Hi dtd,
Thank you for your ideas. I went to the Set up Moneydance+ page, clicked on Connected for the troublesome Vanguard account, then selected Disconnect Vanguard. Once it all refreshed, I went to Connect More Accounts, then connected to my Vanguard account. I then linked the two individual Investments.
Now I'm getting a new error message:
    Error tip: API_ERROR
    Error code: INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR
    Item ID:...
    Request ID:...
    Message: an unexpected error occurred.

Any help appreciated in resolving this situation.
    Thanks,

Ok, that suggests there is something wrong with either Plaid and their connection to Vanguard, or that Vanguard's approval process through Plaid is not working.

It could be as simple as today is a holiday, but I am able to access Vanguard via MD+ for transaction download, so if something is down, then it is the approval process to set you up in MD+

At this time, for MD+, I'd wait a day or two in your situation.

There is an alternative - and that is to use Direct Connect (OFX) instead, which is built into Moneydance. (I always use OFX if it is available, as it is a better and more reliable connection.)

That said, Vanguard has been iffy in its OFX support lately, and it took some direct work with Vanguard to get it up again. Still, you could set it up and see if it works for you. (I currently have both OFX and MD+ set up at the moment, as I have worked with banks at times to work on automatic downloads (I'm just a user, but I've dealt with different banks on this for some time).

You can have both installed for a bank at once, but OFX always overrides MD+ (there is a way to use both at the same time). There is also a caveat, if you do get both working, you will get duplicate transactions if you use both, as the "don't duplicate" code is differenet for the two different processes.

Probably TMI, but I work with this a lot.

So, either wait to see what happens with MD+, or try this - go into MD+ and Disconnect Vanguard, (refresh or restart) then go back to the Vanguard account, and click "Set up Online Banking" and find Vanguard, and set it up there. (The reason you Disconnect Vanguard in MD+ first is that otherwise, when you click setup online banking, it will default into MD+ versus OFX) - to set up both, you'd do OFX first, then MD+

It's a pain, but many banks have dropped OFX, whereas Vanguard (crossed fingers) so far has not, so you have two choices.

Rereading, it sounds complicated, but to me, it's pretty simple since I've done it many times for many banks.

So, wait and hope, and say more if in two days it still is not working. Or try to move to OFX downloads instead. [There are things that can go wrong, but nothing to hurt your data - and most of the glitches have been examined and can be remedied.]

So again, this is "any help appreciated", but you need to decide your energy level on trying different things. Repost your direction, and if there are any issues you encounter.

Oh, and although I said it won't hurt your data, it's always a good idea to do a backup first - "just in case".

AND.... given it isn't working anyway, you could try the Disconnect Vanguard/Reconnect Vanguard in MD+ again - who knows?

[I went to see how I could manually set up third party access by logging into the Vanguard website, but I couldn't see a way to do it there, just as you could not.]

Got it. I'll give it a few days and check again.

    dtd,
As you suggested, I gave it a few days and then downloaded all accounts. This time I had no errors. My activity on this account is usually once a quarter, so it'll be a month or two before new transactions become available. But for now, I'll say that the issue is resolved! Thank you for all your guidance.
    Best,

Yep, best bet is to stick with MD+ as OFX is down yet again.

Appears that Vanguard only allows MD+ signups during certain days and hours, so you got in and got it working!

As mine is working, it's all about signup - I think you are good to go!

    Glad it worked out!
