Moneydance+ Account Download of Historical Transactions
I'm new to using Moneydance+ for downloading transactions (still in my free trail period)
On the initial download for an account, I'm presented with option of how much history to download - choices being by each moth for the last 12 months or "All Available".
Does the institution control how much is "All Available" ?
For example, when downloading for my Vanguard Roth IRA, even when I selected "All Available" it downloads transactions back to August 2025 though the account goes back to 2019.
If indeed, that is only detail I can get to download, seems my choices would be:
- manually enter all history (if wanted to track cost basis etc)
- enter a transaction for each mutual fund/etf as an adjustment of account balance -- getting the number of shares owned corrected.
Thanks for any guidance you can share.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
You can select Online->Setup Moneydance+->Accounts , then click on an account (not the bank name) in the left column.
Select the Reset Sync Date from the popup menu when it appears.
During the next transaction download, Moneydance will prompt you to define the start date instead of downloading it all that's available.
Note that while the software will request data from that point onward, the actual transaction history returned is subject to limitations set by the bank or its data provider.
Note: You can download your historical data manually.
You can download it using the OFX or QFX file format, if available. If not, use the QIF file format. (These files are sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files). You can import the files to Moneydance using File --> Import.
The steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article from the Knowledge Base.
Finally, it might be useful referring you to this section of the Knowleadge base about Investment Accounts.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
