Disable existing connection will not work, nothing changes
I'm using your Standard MoneyDance software. I have a new account number for my American Express Card. Need to disable the old online banking connection and create a new connection using new account number. I have tried all the steps that are listed in your online discussions and nothing works. Which files can I delete in order to break the old connection?

Use toolbox extension. It has tools to do this.

Stuart,
I opened your toolbox and went to Menu: "Online Banking Tools". What is the
exact name of the "Update Function" that I am supposed to use to
accomplish the above task??? Please give a step by step procedure.

Hi Paul,
If you are using Moneydance +, in order to remove the connection, open Moneydance and select your Amex account from the Sidebar. Then, choose Online > Set Up Moneydance +.
You should select the 'Accounts' tab to view your linked accounts.
Select 'Connected' on the right, and choose 'Disconnect' to remove the connection. Finally restart Moneydance.
Then you should navigate to the bank’s website to confirm that your account is enabled for third‑party access and doesn’t require a one‑time authorization password.
Also, please ensure that your account is assigned as described in this article.
Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

Alternatively, if needed, you can perform this using the Toolbox.
This will remove the stale MD+ association.

Maddy,
Why are you giving me solutions for Moneydance+ ? My original complaint
states that I'm using your Standard Moneydance software.

My apologies for the confusion, Paul.
Since Amex no longer supports Direct Connect, I mistakenly assumed you were using Moneydance+. I’m sorry for overlooking that information.
That being said, in order to remove the OFX service, launch the Toolbox and select the Update Mode
Then, navigate to Menu: Online Banking (OFX) Tools
In the resulting window, under Update Functions you should select :
Delete OFX Banking Service / Logon profile (remove_one_service.py)
Finally, restart Moneydance
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Maddy,
You can tell Stuart: he's "knucklehead" for wasting hours of my time
installing extensions and using different tools that will have no effect on
creating a new connection, because American Express has stopped supporting
"Direct Connect". You were the first to bring this to my attention. I'm
sure he knows this; he failed to read every word in my initial support
email. Very frustrating!

Paul, you asked "... Need to disable the old online banking connection and create a new connection using new account number. I have tried all the steps that are listed in your online discussions and nothing works. Which files can I delete in order to break the old connection?". I gave you the tools to do this. Exactly what you asked.
No, I have no idea whether Amex still supports Direct Connection or not...
You are very welcome to remove the toolbox extension, and all of my extensions for that matter, and not use them.
(not support, just a fellow user)

Stuart told you exactly what to do "in order to break the old connection" which is exactly what you asked. He did not address making a new connection, because, not using MD+, there is no way to create a new connection. You either have to download files from their website or use MD+ (which you strongly insisted you did not).
Note that Maddy said "IF you are using MD+.... " and you chastised her for any mention of MD+. She then gave you the exact same advice Stuart gave you.
Both your chastising Maddy and calling Stuart a knucklehead was totally inappropriate and puerile.
So, if you are very frustrated, it's probably because you are looking for people to insult or blame rather than listening and learning.

In conclusion:
Amex has discontinued their use of OFX Direct Connect. This service is required to download your transactions automatically into Moneydance for free.
Without Direct Connect, you can import your data into the program using CSV files. You can use a web browser to download files from your bank's website.
The steps for manually importing Amex CSV are discusses in this public thread, specifically post 14
Alternatively, if you wish to obtain automatic downloads, you can subscribe to Moneydance+. This is an optional subscription service that allows you to download transactions from your banks using the Plaid aggregator.
You can read more about Moneydance+ in this blog post and in this section of the knowledge base.
There is a 30-day free trial so you can fully test downloading from Amex before you're charged.
Since you own a Moneydance 2024 license key and you have registered the program, the cost to use Moneydance+ is $4/monthly or $40/yearly. The steps for setting up this service are outlined in this section of the knowledge base.
Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
