I got this error message yesterday when trying to down load my activity.

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name:Citi Cards
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
Failure

After disabling and setting up again I got in.

But today - I got the message again
So repeated the disable and setup - but No Luck?

It has been up and down... do nothing, just wait for it to succeed at some point.

I'm experiencing this with my Costco Citi Visa.

I have had the same problem all weekend and today, Monday, for 3 different Citi cards.
I disabled the App access online for each account and then added it back. Moneydance appeared to have access before and after. Still did not work.
I disabled in Moneydance and enabled all three again. Still did not work.

    Same error 2000 code.

Hopefully they are not shutting down access like Schwab and BOA did. Schwab works with VBA scripts, but I don't want to do that for credit cards every day. I like to reconcile every day with so many crooks out there.

2 cards, same issue here. Has been sporadic going back to, at least, November 2025. Today I tried clearing the connection again, using toolbox and setting up both accounts again using the Advanced Setup. Still no luck.

I'm guessing that it's finally kaput, but even if it isn't, I'm tired of fighting it, so I switched over to MD+, which works perfectly, albeit slightly delayed..

This comment was split into a new private discussion: Moneydance + subscription

I have not checked in a few years. How much is MD+ now? It was reasonable to start with but then I thought I saw a price jump that made it close to the Quicken subscription price.

    Hi all,
Sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered.

I've referred your query to the connection specialist, who will look into this in more detail for you and provide further insight.

Provided your bank continue to support Direct Connect access, we should be able to get this resolved and get the connection functioning again.

We will update you as soon as we have more information about what's causing the issues, and when we hope this will be fixed.

In the meantime, if you need to update your accounts, please find the steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article from the Knowledge Base.

    Thank you for your patience

"If you have purchased a license key for Moneydance 2022 or a newer version you can subscribe to use Moneydance+ as an "add on" to the main program. The cost will vary depending on the currency you use. It is approximately USD$4 monthly or USD$40 annually".

I will admit that even though this has been sporadic, it is getting worse, and has the same portents as other banks that shut down OFX downloads with no notice to customers. We will see.

Just chiming in to add that this has affected my Costco Citi Visa as well. The first time since switching to MD earlier this year. I got the error code 2000 failure message as well.

Error 2000 generally means the service is not enabled at the bank or that it has been disabled.

Please be assured that I've referred your query to the connection specialist, who is currently looking into this.

I tried a chat with Citi. The customer service person pulled up a canned message that everything is working normal on their end for OFX downloads. I mentioned how BOA and Schwab had stopped this with no warning, even to customer service, so the Representative said they would put in a request to technical services to verify. Doubt I will hear back.

Count me in this frustrated group. I'm giving it a couple of days - but sure want to be able download by the months end.

    From the MoneyDance console:

20260520-07:57:18.774 OFX WARNING/ERROR - Service: 'Citi Cards' Account: 'null' Status code: '2000' Key: 'null' Message: 'Failure'
it took 0.0 seconds to eliminate 0 duplicates from 0 downloaded transactions

In the meantime, OFX/QFX downloads are thankfully still available from the website via manual download. So you don't have to wait for automatic downloads to eventually (hopefully) work.

I just off chats with CITI, so I have not called them yet, but the Technical support numbers I was given are:
855-378-6467 for the COSTCO Citi card
    800-347-4934 for other Citi cards

I have 3 cards with them that stopped working.
Maybe if enough people call they will get the message that some people care about it.

I don't like Monthly subscriptions. That is why I took the learning curve of switching from Quicken to Moneydance after 20+ years of ever increasing costs and continual revoking of functionality of what I had thought I had purchased.

BOA stopped for Moneydance but still worked for Quicken being grandfathered in.
Went to Schwab for everything and then they stopped working with OFX downloads.
The toolbox with a VBA script makes it an easy download. I guess I am going to have to do the same thing with Citi Cards, but that is three different accounts to log into. Not a fun option.

DAVOS at WEF was wrong, "You will own nothing and be happy". That is definitely not true. I don't like paying monthly subscriptions.

    Hi all,

I have made a change to the connection details for Citi Cards. This change will be available for you to access in Moneydance within the next 24 hours. I will let you know when the new connection details are available for you to use.

I wasn't able to find any information online about Citi Cards removing Direct Connect access, so I remain hopeful that the connection is still functioning. But as we have seen in the past, banks can remove the connection without any prior warning and without any communication of the change to their customers.
The Citi Cards listing for Direct Connect is still available in Quicken, so this is hopefully a good sign, as banks will usually let Quicken know first when a connection method has been removed.

I was able to access BOA with Quicken for years after they shut down
Direct Connects for any new customers. When I was testing Moneydance, I
thought I could get BOA to work since it was still working with Quicken.
Never happened. They must have made a deal directly with Quicken.

I assume Citi could do the same thing.

From chats with Citi, I was given what is supposed to be the direct
technical access numbers for Citi and Citi Costco, but have not had a
    chance to try them yet.

    Citi = 800-347-4934
    Citi Costco = 855-378-6467

    Hi,

The new connection details are now available for you to use in Moneydance.
But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue.
To test this, you should recreate the connection.

The issue is also being reported online by Citi Cards customers who use other personal finance software like Quicken, so it is most likely that the bank will need to make a change at their end before we can get this fixed.
Or they'll need to confirm that Direct Connect has been removed (but hopefully that's not the case!).

Discovered this thread yesterday when trying to resolve the same issue. Prior to that I had spent a bunch of time on it, including resetting OFX using the Toolbox, and deleting and reconnecting on the Citi website.

I'm also still getting the 2000 error.

I decided to go with Moneydance + for now (I had never been able to download from my credit union on OFX, so there are advantages to Plus), but will be watching this thread for updates.

an organized email and call action to let them know there are those of us
    not happy about it.

Worth trying, but they are (if true) following in the footsteps of everyone else - Schwab, Chase, USAA, Vanguard, American Express. Fidelity (all my banks/investments) - none of them informed their customers either, and they gave lip service to protests, but all insisted it was to make our accounts more secure....

If this is true, I am going to close my account with them and never do business with them again. Which banks still support direct connect OFX for credit cards?

Major banks? I don't know of any left (I do have a couple of credit unions that have direct connect credit cards) - but there may be some major banks that i don't currently use that do.

they are giving it up (and bill pay as well) without any of them telling the customer in advance. sigh.

I've reluctantly moved to md+ which supports downloads for all my banks except fidelity.

at least citi still supports manual ofx downloads, many banks no longer do that either.

from my POV, it's never going to change. Citi, IMO, has followed in the footsteps of other banks before it. i could be wrong, but at this point i doubt it.
