There is no option to download transactions, and the 1858 preview browser shows a blank screen anyway.

I know there are a lot of clever people out there, and I wanted to see if anyone came up with a better workflow than just manually typing in each transaction. I expect to be with this company for many years, and that's a lot of manual typing I don't want to do. As an example, here are the transactions currently awaiting my entry:

Transaction Date Effective Date Description FMV Amount Share Price Transaction Shares
1-Mar-19 5-Mar-19 PLAN ALLOCATION 182.9315 170.83 182.9315 0.933847
1-Feb-19 5-Feb-19 PLAN ALLOCATION 178.8753 134.2 178.8753 0.750243
3-Jan-19 7-Jan-19 DIVIDEND REINV 162.3288 3.76 162.3288 0.023163
2-Jan-19 4-Jan-19 PLAN ALLOCATION 162.7539 175.84 162.7539 1.080404

Is there a good way to import this data into MD without taking as much time as manually typing it?

Tedtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/470892832019-03-19T16:50:32Z2019-03-19T16:50:32ZDoes anyone have a good Computershare workflow?

Ted,

The first thing you will need is to get data in the table into a parsable format (structure data).

You can use this python script as a starting point. The script read from in.txt and re-write the content into a CSV format (as sample output). The output is just a demo that we re-write the data into structure format.

$ python parseComputershare.py
# Reading in_file: in.txt
# Writing out_file: out.csv
$ cat out.csv
transaction_date,effective_date,description,fmv,amount,share_price,transaction_shares
1-Mar-19,5-Mar-19,PLAN ALLOCATION,182.9315,170.83,182.9315,0.933847
1-Feb-19,5-Feb-19,PLAN ALLOCATION,178.8753,134.2,178.8753,0.750243
3-Jan-19,7-Jan-19,DIVIDEND REINV,162.3288,3.76,162.3288,0.023163
2-Jan-19,4-Jan-19,PLAN ALLOCATION,162.7539,175.84,162.7539,1.080404

Next step is to use MD Python API to "import" the above structure data. Take a look in posting (or post there) at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/moneydance-development to see if anyone has done similar work.

Good luck,

hleofxquotestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/470892832019-03-19T23:28:59Z2019-03-19T23:28:59ZDoes anyone have a good Computershare workflow?

Hi Ted,

Once you have the data in CSV format, you can try Mike Bray's security transaction load extension (loadsectrans.mxt) to import the CSV file.

It won't be able to import all investment transaction types (e.g. DivReinvest) but it should be able to handle the regular Buy transactions.

I can't say for certain whether or not it will be able to handle the 1-Mar-19 Date format.

You can install Mike Bray's extinstaller.mxt to be able to access all of his extensions OR just the loadsectrans.mxt extension.

The wiki for the security transaction load can be found here:
I'm not sure if that workflow will be more convenient than typing in transactions by hand. Perhaps I'll give it a shot in a few months when I have more new transactions.

Tedtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/470892832019-03-22T14:37:52Z2019-03-22T14:37:52ZDoes anyone have a good Computershare workflow?

If you are going to manually add the transaction you can right click the previous months transaction click duplicate transaction then edit date, share count and total cost.
