Can you confirm either of the following...

That when you are attempting to download & import your data via direct-connect from your financial institutions that you are using the 'Download All Accounts' menu item listed under Moneydance's 'Online' menu? (key-combo CTRL-SHIFT-D)

Or...

That when Moneydance is opened to one of the accounts in question, that you are using the menu item to download data for that particular account - also listed under Moneydance's "Online' menu? (key combo CTRL-D)

Provided that you have successfully setup online banking to your financial institutions, those two options should download and import your data. There should be no reason to incorporate the embedded browser in Moneydance.

I just wondered about whether a request was made to enable Direct connect with First Interstate Bank Direct (which may give new USERID/PIN); and whether the process to activate "Desktop Apps" was followed with the Chase Account via the Chase website (Under Profile Settings, more settings, desktop apps),

As you've stated Kevin, the embedded browser should definitely not open if Direct Connect has been set up properly for each account..

Please excuse me for jumping in Kevin, just trying to cover the bases.

Take care,

No need to apologize for jumping in. The more - the merrier. :)

I must be losing it, because when I read the OP last night, I thought that there was confirmation that the Chase account was approved for 'Desktop Apps'. :\

In Quicken, I download from First Interstate via Express Web Connect. First Interstate is on the list of institutions compatible with Moneydance, but I don't see a way on the website to set up a second connection method with a different user name and password. I used my existing user name and password in the online banking setup dialogue. There are checkboxes for Bill Payment and Online Banking, but neither responds to mouse clicks.

2) Quicken uses Direct Connect with my Chase accounts. Under Settings/Desktop Apps on the website it says, "You've set up your Chase accounts so desktop versions of apps like Quicken® or Intuit QuickBooks® can access them directly. To remove this access, contact help & support at 1-877-CHASEPC (1-877-242-7372). Keep in mind: this only applies to apps you've installed on your desktop. If you'd like to link your accounts to a mobile or website app, please go to the linked apps and websites page." As best I can tell, this means the account should be set up to work with Moneydance as well.

Thanks,

I can't speak to the issue with First Interstate. You should maybe do a 'Search' on their website for information on setting up online banking via direct connect. Some banks require separate login credentials. One for logging on to their website and another set for using direct-connect.

I am a Chase Visa client. After approving the account for 'Desktop Apps' and attempting to connect with Moneydance, you should receive an email from Chase asking you to verify your identity. The email will explain how to do so. It has been my experience that a copy of the message was also in the 'Secure Message' box on the Chase website. Once I verified my identity, I was able to connect with Moneydance using the menu items that I mentioned earlier.

By the time I discovered this, it had already expired, so I had to start the process over again. I've done that now, but I'm still getting the browser update message in Moneydance. I still can't figure out why, since Chase hasn't stopped supporting IE11 yet, and I can access the Chase website using IE11 outside of Moneydance. I assume Moneydance uses the version of IE I have installed on my computer. Am I assuming correctly?

[Chase phone support only deals with Quicken and QuickBooks. They weren't able (or willing) to help me with Moneydance. I'm going to try my luck with First Interstate tomorrow.]

Terry Lee Morsetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472818842019-05-29T02:13:36Z2019-05-29T02:13:36ZProblems Downloading Transactions to Moneydance

Hi Terry,

It is my understanding that Moneydance uses it's own embedded browser. However, if you've successfully set up online banking to Chase, there should be no interaction with the embedded browser or any other browser for that matter.

Can you provide the steps that you are taking to the point to where you receive the IE 11 warning when trying to connect to Chase?

-Kevin N. (not a member of MD support)

-Kevin N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/472818842019-05-29T06:32:36Z2019-05-29T06:32:38ZProblems Downloading Transactions to Moneydance

I previously set up my on-line account in Moneydance using the same user name and password I use in Quicken. Like Moneydance, Quicken uses Direct Connect, so I don't think I should need a new or different password/pin with Moneydance.

Now, I open the register for my Chase account in Moneydance and choose to download records just for that account, not all accounts. Then the webpage opens in Moneydance. When I try to log in on this webpage, I get the message that while Chase still supports IE11, I should use Firefox or Chrome instead, with no option to proceed usiing IE11, although I can access the website in IE11 outside of Moneydance. The only thing that occurs to me is that, if Moneydance doesn't have the latest version of IE11 embedded, perhaps that is causing the problem.

I just tried to reconfigure my online setup for the account in Moneydance and got the message:

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name: Chase
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
Please verify your identity within the next 7 days. Using your desktop computer, go to your bank's website and visit the Secure Message Center for instructions.

So it's back to the Secure Message Center to reconfirm my identity.
