It has been weeks since M&T downloads have worked. Several people are posting about problems. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS? I paid for a product that is not working and it is ridiculous that no response is given to our inquiries.

Currently researching other personal finance products in the meantime....

    Hi Amanda,

    Thank you for contacting us.
I apologize for the time it is taking to find a solution, it is difficult to pinpoint the source of the issues because the connection works for some and not for others with the same configuration.

I can assure you that we are working on a solution, unfortunately the previous fixes did not result in a positive outcome for all users.

Temporarily the only way to get your files into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site.
You can download into QFX, OFX, OFC or QIF files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance. You can find the steps for manually importing your data in this article.
You can also open your banks website directly from Moneydance by selecting Online --> Open Account Website, which makes the download process easier.

I have flagged this discussion to be notified as soon as we have a solution.

I think they changed the net address for the OFX transfers. I had some success contacting the bank's server using an advanced connection to https://www.oasis.cfree.com/fip/genesis/prod/02601.ofx. I can't get the M&T's server to recognize my credentials. At least the app doesn't hang when using that address and the dialog populates with bank's info. That the most progress I have made in restoring downloads since April!

That is the old address.. the OFX page information I was able to obtain from M&T website is as follows:

    02601 02601 02601 02601 M&T Bank - OLD http://www.mandtbank.com 1-800-790-9130 http://www.mandtbank.com ACTIVE BANKING,PAYMENT,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&DIRECT NOT_QBP NA
    14770 14770 14770 14770 M&T Bank Direct Connect http://www.mtb.com/personal/onlineservices/Pages/direct-connect.aspx (866) 791-0663 http://www.mtb.com ACTIVE BANKING,PAYMENT,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&DIRECT NOT_QBP NA

This is the exerpt from the file:
    https://asset.mtb.com/documents/txt/quickbooks-windows-2017-fidir.txt

I tried entering the above information in the Advanced section of Online Setup with the OFX Institution ID of 14770 and the above .aspx link. but no joy. I kept the Org ID "ISC" which I think is wrong and associated with the 2601 settings.

It has now been a full 7 weeks since I reported this problem to Infinite Kind and submitted my logs. Have the developers given up on this problem? If not, can we at least get some information about progress to date.

    Hi Melissa,

I'm extremely sorry about the lack of a fix and even updates on this issue. I'm actively working on it but still have not figured out why some people (like me) can connect without any problems yet other people's connections simply freeze.

I had an hour long screen sharing session with another customer yesterday in which I gathered some helpful details about the problem and am working on this non-stop.

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,
Could there be a problem with using Dropbox to store the data files? I can't see a reason why this would be the case with M&T but not other FIs.
Is there any way we can get M&Ts Org ID and FID? I have linked a listing to Quicken's OFX/Web Connect/Direct Connect database above.

Files are stored locally. I suspect they have firewall blocking as the connection initiation just hangs or slow walks the responses (i.e tar pit). Normally the failures are immediate if I make connection with bogus URI. The connection from the list looks tar pitted. My work email server did this to IP addresses that tried to break into people’s accounts or sent too much spam.

My first trying to work with the M&T tech side claimed they did not see my connect attempt. Some of their responses were a bit bogus when I inquired what is the URI for making the connection.

I really miss my online connect and feel like I am using the old paper checkbook register. The M&T QIF export does not import the future payments, so that I need to pay a bill via the web and then enter it in Moneydance. I have not had to do this since the late ‘80s. It seems that Moneydance is not able to match the QIF import with the manual entry ever so you have to manual merge the transaction. This feature worked mostly flawlessly for years, yet another devolution of Moneydance. That and 2019.3 import hang is even worse!

Hopefully Sean will get this fixed when he comes back.

    Hi Mark,
I'm confident that there's no conflict between any Dropbox/syncing functions. I'm making progress and feel like I'm close to having a solution now. As for the Org ID and FI ID, they are:
Org: MandT ID: 1001 Also the FI Profile Request URL is: https://directConnectofx.mtb.com/ofx/process.ofx

Thank you Melissa for the offer to do a screen share. Once I have a solution ready to test that would be very helpful!

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Everyone,

OK, I believe that the newest preview version of Moneydance now should work with connections to M&T Bank. It works in every test I've done on the Mac and Windows as well as in a series of tests that tried many different variations to the connection parameters.

Would you mind installing Moneydance from the preview page (link below) and letting me know if it doesn't resolve the problem?

    Thanks!

I tried 2019.4, it appears the same as before. Attempting to “Setup Online Banking” results in multiple minute hang (>10minutes), I left and checked many hours later. Most people would have Force Quitted by then. After a time-out I was able to see the console log. The app is unresponsive before the timeout. Here is the transactions from the attempt to setup.

Listening to the crickets outside, I realize this is all that is happening to fixing the M&T OFX connection, broken since April! QIF import seems broken since 2019.2 (hangs on import!) Might as well use the paper register!

Not quite. Last week, Sean logged onto my laptop remotely and confirmed that (1) he can access the M&T servers just fine on his computer, but (2) the exact same process fails on my computer. (By process I mean both Moneydance and queries issued from Terminal.) Subsequent to this, I set up an old laptop in my office that Sean can access remotely and configure as needed. He spent quite a while working on this computer last Friday (Aug 23) and verified again that there is some very subtle difference between my computers and his.

To quantify this effort, the total use of my computers last week was about 1 hour on Wednesday and maybe a few hours on Friday. In other words, a not inconsiderable effort.

While I, too, am frustrated, I am willing to hang in there a while longer as long as he is working on the issue.

I'd like to add that I am still working on this issue. It's still a puzzle but I've got a few more tricks to try. The use of Melissa's computer has been invaluable.

Sean- I too have been having problems with M&T since May. One question I have posed several times, with no answer from infinite kind, is how can we uninstall MD, including all debris and reinstall. In the back of my mind is the possibllity of program corruption by something that happened when we couldn't connect. I am also available if you want another test bed. By the way, is this happening only on MacOS or also on Windows?

    Hi Steve,

The method for completely removing Moneydance is different depending upon the platform you are using, but I can pretty much guarantee that uninstalling and reinstalling wouldn't affect this issue. It's not related to anything in the data file or installation settings.

So far I've seen this problem on both Mac and Windows computers with no common factors that I've been able to detect.

I appreciate the offer for helping test. For now Ms Hines' help should be enough to keep testing.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Steve? Anyone? Is anyone still working on this issue? It's been more than a month without an update. Moneydance is a program I depend on. I feel very much betrayed.

    What is going on?

I finally gave in to evil Intuit Quicken. M&T connected first time. For those bailing, the QIF export mostly worked, there was a whole bunches of renamed categories in import and some of the transfers got dropped. I did one additional test of Moneydance using the Quicken connect link URL The Moneydance log failed the connection with “too many hops” failure. The final straw was when Discover Card stopped syncing. It was a good 10 year ride and I am done with this application.

Good bye and thanks for the fish….

Sean logged onto my computer today and performed more tests. He think he has found the problem, at least from the command line. Fingers crossed.

While I don’t mind paying for Quicken, I am worried about the fact that they are increasingly routing my information through their servers. I would prefer to keep all of my financial transactions between me and my bank.

Don't know if this helps, but I noticed that when I download transaction files from M&T website, the only options are QIF and CSV.. could they have disabled OFX downloads.. why.. I don't know.. There is no information regarding their DirectConnect file download, although I always expected OFX.
Quicken/Quickbooks have their own downloadable file types.. perhaps they moved to QIF/QBO primarily?

I still can get a Quicken refund. I am using local storage, no cloud and direct connect to credit cards and other accounts. I am a bit concerned about spying and there are little choices. Gnucash didn’t have connection to M&T. I hate Intuit, they lobby against IRS filings, buy and kill competition.

Sean, you should investigate why redirects fail.
