Screen does not show my accounts
Moneydance headings come up in the tool bar, but the screen does not show my accounts. What can I do?

Hi Tom,
Can you please verify the version of Moneydance you are running. To do this run Moneydance and from the menu bar select Help->Console Window... Then copy and paste the output of the console window to this discussion.
Thanks!

It's Moneydance 2. I accidentally cleared the console window. So now what?

If you've accidentally cleared the console window, you'll need to access it again. This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance, then clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button and pasting the output to us here.
Thanks!

Have retrieved info on console, but cannot paste it because when Moneydance is on screen, my toolbar disappears.

Hi Tom,
Can you send us your errlog.txt file instead? If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
or:
Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and type in:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt

I haven't heard from you regarding my last response and I am getting very frustrated with this program even though it is great when it works. I purchased this edition of Moneydance about six months ago, and I had to do that because the edition I had stopped working. It is also quite awkward to try and do tech support via e mail. Why can't we speak on the phone? 201-290-2943. I would like to know what your company is going to do about this!

Hi Tom,
Apologies for the delay. Unfortunately we are unable to offer telephone support, I would be happy to continue to assist you via this method. Could we retry getting your console log? Once you've copied it to your clipboard, you can paste it using the right click menu -> Paste function, or using the Command key + V function to paste the clipboard into this message. To do this, take the following steps:
Open Moneydance.
Click the Help menu -> Console Window.
At the bottom left hand corner of the Console Window, click the button that reads Copy to Clipboard.
Close the Console Window, and close Moneydance.
Switch back to this message, and right click in the field where you will respond. Select Paste from the menu, or press the Command key + V to paste your console log into your response.
Here's a quick guide on copying and pasting:

Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this process!

Hi Tom,
Your console log indicates that you're using an outdated build of Moneydance. Can you try upgrading to the latest version of Moneydance from here:
http://infinitekind.com/downloads
and see if that fixes the issue that you're seeing?

I followed the instructions and downloaded Moneydane 3, but I got the same result, blank screen.

Hi Tom,
Can you try resetting your Moneydance preferences and see if that fixes the issue that you're seeing? To do this, you have to rename your config.dict file. If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict
or:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go>Go to Folder> and type in:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\config.dict
Once you've found your config.dict file, close Moneydance and rename it (to something like config2.dict, for example), then open Moneydance again and it will appear as though you've just installed Moneydance for the first time, so you'll have to re-enter your license key and may have to locate and open your data set again. If you run into any problems, you can simply close Moneydance and rename the original config.dict file back to config.dict and open Moneydance again to restore your original settings.

Hi Tom,
If Moneydance is able to open at all, then it creates a config.dict file. Can you open a Finder window, then go to Go -> Go to folder and enter the following:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/
and see if you can find your config.dict that way?

Have gone through all the steps you suggested in this email and previous one and I'm still coming up with a blank screen.
