Splits For Downloaded Data
I recently started using the download QFX file method of getting my transactions into MD. I was skeptical about trying for fear that it would make a mess of all the data I had hand entered for so many years. But trying some test runs with small date ranges showed me it works fine. It beats the hell out of hand entering it. But I have a some questions...
1. I often take cash back from grocery stores and such. I see on my bank statement (CHASE) that they note the purchase amt and the cash back amt on the second line. Will MD ever be able to create a SPLIT for this info automatically? Otherwise it looks like my food bill is much higher.
2. I also usually split things like the Verizon bill so I know how much I'm spending on cable TV vs. internet service. I see how MD "learns" and automatically assigns categories to transactions based on previous entries. Will this work with splits as well?
3. In the Check # column, I used to enter whether it was a DEBIT, EFT, XFER, or Ck #. Now there is nothing entered there when I import QFX data. Should I care? Is there any real reason to need these classifications?
Thanks in advance for any info or thoughts. Next up is to see if the Budget Manager is something useful to me.
