Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Please can you let us know which bank/s you're trying to connect to?

Moneydance supports automatic downloads via Direct Connect, and you can view a list of financial institutions that support this feature here.

If your bank is listed, you can set this up within Moneydance by navigating to Online --> Set Up Online Banking. Then select 'New Connection' and choose your financial institution from the list.
Most banks require that you contact them to enable Direct Connect before you can download your data from within Moneydance. When you do this, you'll be given the login credentials you need to connect. Generally, these login details differ from those used for ATM or online banking. You can find the steps for setting this up outlined in this article.

If your bank does not support Direct Connect, you are still able to easily import your data into the program. The best way to get your files into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site.
You can download into QFX, OFX, OFC or QIF files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance. You can find the steps for manually importing your data in this article.
You can also open your banks website directly from Moneydance by selecting Online --> Open Account Website, which makes the download process easier.

Finally, in regards to Online Bill Payment , it might be worth referring you to this article and also, Transaction Reminders here.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

I try to Set Up Online Banking and it still fails. I get this message

"The given customer ID or PIN is not valid. For more information, contact your financial institution.Additional information from the server:SIGNON
INVALID"

I have chosen the bank again and again so it will rewrite the data in the
software. It still fails. I go to the bank (State Bank of the Lakes)
website and have no problem signing on. I use the same username and
password while trying to set up the software. I did contact the bank help
line and they said it was your problem because I had no problem logging
onto their website.

So since I don't know what to do now, I have contacted you.

akimbelltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478214582019-11-11T19:52:43Z2019-11-11T19:52:43ZSetting up online banking fails...

Hi Arthur,

Many financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking.
You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for direct connections from Quicken.
Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that you can not connect in Moneydance.
Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started.

Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service.

Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for your interest in Moneydance!

the US.

I have talked to the bank, today, and they tell me that using 'direct
connect' will cost me $10.00 a month. I opened my account on the strength
of their statement that they used 'direct connect'. $10.00 a month is not
acceptable to me so I will close the account and go back to my other bank
which has photo deposits of checks and bill payment at no charge.
As a result, I will not need your software because the reason I bought it,
and changed banks, was for 'direct connect'.
I would appreciate it if your company would refund my money from the
purchase of the software. I will then delete all the software and
associated files.
You have been very kind and helpful and I think your software would have
been a joy to use.
Please let me know what your decision is.
Thanks,
Art Kimbell

akimbelltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478214582019-11-13T09:17:19Z2019-11-13T09:17:19ZSetting up online banking fails...

Hi Art,

We appreciate the point you are making, so I have asked our payment processing partners FastSpring to process your refund. They will let you know when the process is complete from their end.

However, if you ever decide to give Monydance another try in the future, I'd encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.

The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.

You can find the Moneydance Knowledge Base here which will be useful if you're using the program for the first time.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
